Lock picks are hard to find in Resident Evil 8: Village. They make it hard on purpose, so that you can feel like you worked hard for some great rewards. For example, if you need more Lei stat and have no more crystalized remains to sell, it’s time to start opening locked drawers. Besides, sometimes it can be a breath of fresh air taking a break from fighting vampire ladies so that you can find some good loot.
There are up to three locked drawers within the gargantuan Castle Dimitrescu. Each will have loot that may be crucial to you, whether it is some extra ammo or some expensive treasure to sell for Lei. Opening locked locations like drawers and village wells will reward you with treasures and resources to further aid you in your playthrough. It is not mandatory to unlock each locked drawer in the game, but if you are a completionist or need an extra few rounds of ammo, there is no harm done in attempting to open every one you find.
3 The Bedchambers - First Floor
After you get captured by the Dimitrescu daughters and are hung up in Alcina’s bedchambers, you’ll soon find a locked drawer directly outside that room. You’ll probably have to come back for it if you don’t have a lockpick. This drawer contains four rounds of shotgun ammo. The shotgun hits harder than most weapons you have at the moment and are easier to panic and spray with.
To find this location again, all you have to do is go back to the main foyer where the angel statues are. On the map, this is labeled as “Hall of the Four”. Once here, facing the front door, turn right. Keep going down the halls until you enter the room with a fireplace.
These few four rounds might be life or death with Lady Dimitrescu on your trail. But remember, shooting her while she’s chasing you in the castle will deal no damage to her and just waste your ammo.
2 Kitchen Drawer - First Floor
This locked drawer is by far the easiest one to unlock in Castle Dimitrescu. This is because they put a lock pick right at your feet for immediate use. You’ll probably first run into the drawer when you’ve defeated the Dimitrescu daughter in the cellar or dungeon. This is after being chased through the prison cells by zombies and chased through the cellar by a Dimitrescu daughter.
From the cellar you’ll enter a small, dank kitchen where you should find the Sanguis Virginis wine bottle. This bottle is your key to entering the courtyard. Leaving the kitchen, labeled as the Kitchen on the map, you’ll enter a hall with the locked chest. This hall will be connected to the Kitchen and Dining Room. The chest contains a wooden angel doll treasure to sell for Lei at the Duke. If you don’t already have a lock pick, further down the hall there is a lock pick sitting on a dresser. This hall also contains a free pistol upgrade part in a suitcase.
1 Opera Hall Drawer - Second Floor
The last locked drawer is on the second floor of the opera house. The Opera Hall can only be entered through the courtyard and then again from use of a special key. You will have to have defeated one of the Dimitrescu daughters and found the Sanguis of Virginis to then find the courtyard key. After that, you’ll need to have found the Dimitrescu key and Iron Insignia key. These keys are found by heading into the right side door in the courtyard. The Dimitrescu key is needed to enter the Opera Hall.
Going up the Opera Hall stairs, there will be a locked drawer at the end of one of the halls. This drawer contains six rounds of sniper rifle ammo. This is one of the more valuable resources you can find in a locked drawer at this point, since you can find the sniper rifle weapon hidden inside Lady Dimitrescu’s attic. When finding the sniper rifle, it will only have four shots available. These six extra rounds will save you.
How To Find More Lock Picks
Lock picks are random loot found around every map in Resident Evil Village and they aren’t marked. To make sure you’ve found all the loot you can in every area, make sure the room you’re in isn’t colored red on your map. A red room on your map means that you missed some loot in the area. Blue means that you cleared out the area. Grey means you haven’t even located and entered the area yet. In Castle Dimitrescu, you can find a lock pick to loot in three different locations.
