Later today, Capcom will be hosting a special Resident Evil showcase presentation that will focus primarily on the upcoming Resident Evil 8 game. While it remains to be seen exactly what Capcom will announce about Resident Evil 8 during the showcase, a leak online may have potentially revealed what fans of the survival-horror franchise will get if they decide to pre-order the new game.
The leaked Resident Evil 8 pre-order bonuses list three things that players will get for pre-ordering the game. This will include the Mr. Raccoon Weapon Charm, the Survival Resources Pack, and the Resident Evil Village Mini Soundtrack. What’s unclear is if these pre-order bonuses will apply the main Resident Evil 8 game, or if players will instead access them through the leaked multiplayer experience instead.
Another aspect of this leak is that it has prematurely revealed Capcom’s plans for a Resident Evil multiplayer experience called Resident Evil Re:Verse. What exactly this is has yet to be revealed, but those interested will find out more at the Resident Evil showcase event, set to go live at 2pm PT later today.
The fact that the Resident Evil 8 pre-order bonuses have been leaked certainly suggests that fans will learn the game’s release date during the showcase. The Resident Evil 8 release date is believed to be some point within the first half of the year, with most estimates guessing that it will launch in April. Typically pre-order bonuses are announced when a game has a release date, and so while Capcom could still keep it secret after the showcase, that seems highly unlikely.
In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if some of the other Resident Evil showcase predictions come true. One of the more exciting rumors has pointed to a Resident Evil 8 playable demo launching at some point between now and the game’s release date, which would give fans a chance to try it before they buy. The rumors indicate that the Resident Evil 8 demo will be a timed-exclusive for PlayStation 5 owners, though, so fans will have to tune in to find out if there’s any truth to that.
Those answers and more should come during the Resident Evil showcase presentation. We know that the showcase will include a new Resident Evil 8 trailer and gameplay walkthrough, as well as some words about the Resident Evil franchise in general, but beyond that, nothing has actually been confirmed by Capcom. Resident Evil fans will just need to tune in at 2pm PT to find out which leaks were true and which ones were not.
Resident Evil 8 is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
