Resident Evil 8 could be delayed because of COVID-19, reveals a new report. This is one of several leaks about the game as other rumors suggested that Resident Evil 8 could bring back Chris Redfield and will have an enemy like Marguerite from Resident Evil 7.
A new report about the next Resident Evil game quotes a source who says that the Resident Evil 8 release date will be in Q1 2021. However, “with the global COVID-19 pandemic, that might change” meaning that fans have to wait a bit longer to play what sounds like a unusual new game in the series. Q1 2021 goes from the beginning of January to March 31, 2021, so if delayed, the game could be released any time after that.
Resident Evil 8 wouldn’t be the only game delayed because of COVID-19. Fans are asking if Elden Ring could be delayed for PS5 and Xbox Series X and if the consoles, which have holiday 2020 launch dates, could also be delayed themselves.
Many are also wondering if games like Ghost of Tsushima and Cyberpunk 2077, which has been delayed before, could also have a later release date because of the pandemic. If delays means that developers can work from home safely though, then many gamers are happy to wait longer.
Capcom’s plans for the next Resident Evil haven’t been officially confirmed. However, few fans would mind if the company took some more time to develop the game because of developer safety and because of what else Capcom has been doing with the series. Resident Evil fans have had a huge amount of new gameplay to enjoy with the release of the Resident Evil 3 remake and the Resident Evil Resistance multiplayer. If Resident Evil 8 does release in Q1 2021, that would be less than a year after the remake.
It would also give Capcom more time to develop some of the game’s stranger ideas. Another rumor suggests that Resident Evil 8 will have a castle siege with armored zombies. There have also been suggestions that the game, which is rumored to be in first-person, could be hated by fans because of how different it is and that Capcom has had to make several changes to make it seem like a main game in the series. More time in development would allow Capcom to keep testing the new Resident Evil and make sure that these new ideas are good ones.
Resident Evil 8 is rumored to be in development.
