Resident Evil Village is set to continue the storyline chronology after a slew of remakes arrived following the release of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The change in the series’ style with this game meant a lot of previously established stories weren’t followed up on since new protagonists and characters were brought in.

Fans continue to raise their own questions, though, as the series has traditionally stretched the answers to these queries out for a long time. Some do need clarification more than others, however, and it would be in the best interest of Resident Evil Village to answer these 10 questions within the game.

10 Where Are The Other Protagonists?

While Resident Evil 6 is considered as the lowest in terms of quality in the series, it at least brought fans up to speed with the characters. A couple, like Leon, have shown up in accompanying movies since, but there’s still nothing definitive concerning everyone’s whereabouts.

This is especially striking due to the almost decade-long gap between Resident Evil 6 and Village, so it’s high time fans become knowledgeable as to why these heroes have been inactive while the viruses are still infecting people around the world.

9 How Is The U.S. Landscape Now?

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was fairly self-contained, so much so that the larger scope of the world was only implied and not revealed. It’s clear that things are far from peachy out there, what with the presence of viruses and zombies, but the extent of the damage is uncertain.

With Resident Evil Village taking things to Europe, there’s a chance the U.S. isn’t doing all that well. Resident Evil 6 had shown the country to be in dire straits. All these factors combined make for too much of a blank space that needs to be filled.

8 Is Albert Wesker Really Dead?

Wesker ended up becoming the stuff of nightmares at the end of Resident Evil 5. Here, he displayed incredible durability and even some level of immunity. Although he was seemingly killed, there have still been a lot of references to him in ensuing games.

With notes of his plans regularly found even years after his death, there’s always been a lack of closure over Wesker’s demise. Resident Evil Village doesn’t need to feature Wesker’s return, but it should at least simply give an outright answer to his ultimate fate. This can be done through stuff like autopsy reports or confirmation through dialogue that he indeed perished.

7 What Were Ada’s Motivations?

This stylish and badass character remains a fan favorite. Other than that, though, next to nothing is known about her. Her motivations have remained a mystery, and it’s also clear that Ada Wong isn’t even her real name.

It’s highly unlikely she shows up in Resident Evil Village. However, it’s not her presence that fans want, it’s information about her. With Village set to make exploration a major factor in gameplay, Ada’s past can be found scattered about for the player to uncover. This can be done as an Easter egg as well, but there does need to be a clear cut resolution concerning who this person really is.

6 What Happened To Chris’ Squad?

Resident Evil 6 saw Chris as part of the BSAA and leading a squad that perished, afflicting him with survivor’s guilt. In the end, the one partner he had remaining also died, although Chris vowed to continue fighting. By Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, though, Chris was now working under the reformed Umbrella corporation.

This begs a question as to what happened to Chris’ next BSAA squad, seeing as he had promised he wouldn’t give up again like before. Since he’d had a breakdown the previous time he’d lost his men, it’s too big of a personal plot hole regarding Chris for his most recent BSAA squad to go without reference in Village.

5 What Were Jessica’s Plan With The T-Abyss Virus?

Chris appeared in Resident Evil Revelations, and the game’s ending saw the T-Abyss virus falling into the hands of Jessica Sherawat, a double agent who had been spying from within the BSAA. The status of Jessica and the virus remain unknown.

It’s always likely the virus strain will show up in Resident Evil Village. Due to Jessica’s betrayal of Chris, she can make an appearance as well. The question that needs to be answered, though, is what Jessica’s plans were supposed to be with the T-Abyss, along with her whereabouts.

4 Why Wasn’t Mia Affected As Severely If She Was Infected Longer?

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is for those gamers who love a good scare. While it achieved that, it also brought with it a plot hole of sorts, which fans have turned into an unanswered question. Here, Ethan’s wife, Mia, was shown to be infected much longer than the antagonistic family, and yet retained some of her sanity.

This doesn’t add up since everyone else became maniacal once they were exposed to the virus, so why wasn’t Mia worse for wear? It’s assumed she might have some immunity or the timelines might be uneven to give a clearer picture. Whatever it is, hopefully Village can provide an answer to this issue.

3 What Is Jake Muller’s Status?

Another reason why Albert Wesker is considered as the best villain in the series is because of his fleshed out background. Jake Muller provides this substance, being the son of Wesker. Being more resistant to viruses, along with “powers” like healing, speed, and strength, Jake’s blood was supposedly capable of providing a vaccine.

Resident Evil Village will be expanding upon the idea of viruses, which brings up the question of Jake’s status once again since his abilities can come into play. If nothing else, the idea of his blood being useful can either be shot down or expanded upon in the game so that fans can have their answers.

2 What Was Real And What Were Hallucinations?

Due to the survival horror nature of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, a whole lot of the game is spent in between hallucinations. One question on the minds of many fans is the distinction between the fabrication and reality.

This is due to Eveline having been said to be a hallucination at one point, only to have shown up in videotapes as well. Needless to say, it’s a bit confusing. Resident Evil Village can touch upon this topic once again by providing exposition on how all of this worked.

1 Is Umbrella Corporation Truly Legit?

Umbrella Corporation is still thought of as the main antagonistic force of the series despite its downplayed role in recent times. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard ended with the remnants of this company, now operating as Blue Umbrella, being the ones to save Ethan.

While Chris is working in association with Umbrella, there’s still an apprehension over the idea of this corporation being legitimate in their activities. Resident Evil Village is poised to set aside any of these doubts, and it will be a big miss if this question goes unaddressed.
