Shortly after Resident Evil 3 Remake released, rumors appeared on the internet that suggested Capcom is working on remaking Resident Evil 4 and how the game is set to release in 2022. The company hasn’t confirmed nor denied any of those rumors.
While speaking with IGN, Shinji Mikami took a little bit of time to talk about the rumors and what they potentially mean for Resident Evil 4. The prolific director spoke on Capcom’s focus on remakes, and gave his blessing to the rumored reimagining. “As long as it turns out good I have no issues with it,” the game’s director explained.
One thing that is worth mentioning about the rumors is how Resident Evil 4 Remake is allegedly being worked on by M-Two Inc., the same studio that worked as a support studio on Resident Evil 3 Remake. In other words, after finishing up Resident Evil 3 Remake, M-Two Inc. shifted its focus over to remaking Resident Evil 4 as the main developer for that game.
With Resident Evil 4, the development team should have enough time to remake the game while staying true to the original version. In the meantime, Capcom is allegedly gearing up to announce Resident Evil 8 with an estimated release date for that game to be in 2021.
