This Resident Evil 3 Remake mod lets players turn Jill Valentine into Aerith Gainsborough.
Aerith is perhaps one of the most memorable and lovable characters in the Final Fantasy series. Not only does she play an important role in the events of Final Fantasy VII, but her look and charm is loved by many fans, even more so after Final Fantasy VII Remake came out. However, what happens when you turn that endearing flower girl into a zombie-slayer equipped with a handgun? Well, players won’t have to wait too long to find out since a Resident Evil 3 Remake mod allows them to do that.
Known as Aerith Gainsborough, the mod fully replaces Jill Valentine with the Final Fantasy VII character. From the face and all the way to the eyes and hair, the mod carefully reconstructs Resident Evil 3 Remake’s character to have the same features as Aerith. Additionally, the outfit is modified in such a way to make Aerith look a lot more like an action movie star who is a member of S.T.A.R.S. Ultimately, players who happen to be on team Aerith are in for a treat with this mod.
Since the Aerith mod is somewhat new, its author, SilverEzredes, stated that it still has some bugs and issues. For example, the mod currently experiences some “rigging issues” along with “clipping” and a “texture based neck seam.” However, SilverEzredes is currently working on fixing the mod by debugging and ironing out all the problems. Once the issues have been taken care of, players can expect “new variants and addons.”
For now, the mod comes in two different files. The first file contains the main Aerith mod, which completely replaces Jill Valentine, while the second is a version of the mod that just includes Aerith’s hair and nothing else. As such, the hair-only mod most likely allows players to give Jill a makeover by giving her Aerith’s hairstyle.
Seeing Aerith with a gun and shooting zombies can be seen as something rather unusual for Final Fantasy fans simply because of who Aerith is as a character. Still, with the power of game mods, anything can be replaced with anything else, thus making potential playthroughs more interesting, unique, or completely out of this world.
