Fans of Capcom’s survival-horror game Resident Evil 2 have recently been able to enjoy a demo for the title’s upcoming demo, so much so that one fan has already figured out how to clear it in only 3 minutes. Unsurprisingly, with the demo available on PC, it’s been datamined, resulting in a number of extra details about the game becoming available for public knowledge. Among these details is a New Game Plus mode, which will accompany the returning Leon A, Leon B, Claire A and Claire B campaigns.

This is most likely Capcom’s way of modernizing Resident Evil 2 and making it somewhat more suitable for the current market. The original game was only five to seven hours long, so expecting customers to pay up $60 for a title that might be able to be completed in a couple of afternoons could have drawn plenty of negative feedback. Capcom already has some experience implementing New Game Plus into the series, since they did it previously with Resident Evil 7 as well.

The files also refer to something called “Rogue,” which is implied to be another new mode, with additional mentions to a costume select, rankings and a shop system. Capcom has previously teased including a new mode, so this could be what they were referring to, though we still have no discernible idea what it is.

The full list of leaked information can be found right here, but this should all be taken with a grain of salt. After all, none of this is official, and it’s entirely possible that the assumptions made about these files are completely inaccurate or are leftovers of things that won’t be included in the final release.

As previously mentioned, the Resident Evil 2 demo is available to download right now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. However, it can only be played once for 30 minutes before locking players out completely. Unsurprisingly, PC owners have managed to find a way around the time limit so they can enjoy it at their own pace.

Those that have already played it may be interested to know that it’s been recently discovered that the American release of the demo is noticeably gorier than the Japanese version. More details on this can be found here.

Resident Evil 2 releases on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
