There’s only a little more than a month left to go before Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake officially goes live, but it appears as if the publisher and developer may soon be giving fans a chance to try the game out first before buying it. According to a recent listing discovered on the Microsoft Store, a demo for the forthcoming survival-horror title could be arriving next month for players to download.

According to a description on the Microsoft Store, the aforementioned Resident Evil 2 remake demo is currently scheduled to be released on January 11, 2019 for Xbox One owners to try out, but will only be available for a 30 minute period for each playthrough. At this point in time, though, there’s no telling whether or not a demo could also become available for PC and PS4 players to experience next month, too.

Apparently, the Xbox One demo for the Resident Evil 2 remake will be confined to one specific area, as players can either “take in the horror atmosphere at [their] own pace” or “make a desperate dash to solve all the puzzles” in the Raccoon City Police Department. This means that none of the new environments such as The Orphanage will be on display. Plus, despite the 30 minute timer on the demo, those who give the trial a go will be able to continue as many times as they like after dying during any given playthrough.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that the Resident Evil 2 remake demo on Xbox One will evidently only be available until January 31, 2019. This is likely due to the fact that Capcom wants to encourage those who give the trial a try to buy the full version of the game.

While the Resident Evil 2 demo being offered for such a short period of time may disappoint some, at least Capcom is giving players chance–albeit a brief one–to get a better understanding of the remake’s new style before purchase. After all, even though the title was crowned Best of Show at E3 2018, the RE2 remake may not end up being everyone’s cup of tea.

The Resident Evil 2 remake is set to launch on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
