With Resident Evil 2 having won Best of Show at E3 2018, there’s no doubt that myriad survival-horror diehards and casual fans alike are ready to get their hands on a copy of the forthcoming remake of the 1998 classic from Capcom. Naturally, some will be satisfied to just buy the base content, but many fans will definitely want the option to splurge on special versions of the game to grow their collection of memorabilia, so the publisher and developer will be giving its Japanese audience the chance to do so with a $900 Premium Edition.

As indicated in the screenshot below of Capcom’s Japanese website, the Resident Evil 2 Premium Edition will contain a Bluetooth-enabled Lexington vintage typewriter keyboard that comes with a charging cable, an apparent active battery life of up to seven days, and compatibility with Windows, MacOS, as well as iOS and Android devices. What’s more is that this pricey package for the remake also includes a statue of Leon Kennedy, four “ink ribbons” that are actually rolls of masking tape, a Raccoon Police Station poster, an official art book and soundtrack CD, a DLC voucher, a collector’s chest, and of course, a copy of the game.

As of now, it appears as if limited Premium Edition packages for Resident Evil 2 are going to be available in Japan only, as the American website for Capcom currently doesn’t show the rather expensive special edition for pre-order. However, the publisher and developer previously revealed the Collector’s Edition for non-Japanese territories during San Diego Comic-Con 2018, with its price being a little more reasonable at $200. That said, though, it’s worth noting that the Collector’s Edition won’t have the Lexington vintage typewriter keyboard.

All things considered, while the stylish Bluetooth-enabled keyboard is a cool product all on its own (so much so that it’s being offered as a standalone item for $680), it will be interesting to see just how in-demand the Premium Edition becomes. Perhaps Capcom realized that Western audiences wouldn’t be as keen on the $900 package as Japan would be, which would explain why it’s only being offered in the Eastern country for now.

Resident Evil 2 is set to launch on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
