Fresh news about the Resident Evil movie reboot seems to shamble in at a steady clip, much like the zombies that have come to define the popular video game franchise that its based off of. This time its a new release date that’s busted through the shuffle of leaked set photos and casting announcements to give this movie’s journey to release an end date. Those familiar with the Resident Evil games understand that convoluted puzzles are an integral part of the experience and it took a bit of detective work to decipher the release date – September 9, 2021....

Resident Evil 3 and its accompanying multiplayer mode Resident Evil Resistance are fast-approaching their official release date, and Capcom has finally made the open beta for Resistance available to PC and PS4 users following a brief delay. The Resident Evil Resistance beta was actually supposed to drop for all three platforms (PC, PS4, and Xbox One) on March 27, and it did, but there were apparently so many issues with the PC and PS4 versions that Capcom pulled the plug....

New Blood Interactive is creating indie first-person shooters, taking inspiration from classics including Heretic, Quake, Doom, Half-Life, Thief, and more. Now, New Blood is ready to drop its latest creation on FPS fans. Today marked the launch of ULTRAKILL, the fastest-paced and most violent shooter from New Blood yet. In ULTRAKILL, the setting is appropriately heavy metal. Mankind is extinct and machines fueled by blood are now all that’s left on Earth....

I wrote our preview for Returnal, which meant playing only up until the second biome, rather than the full review, which as you might expect, meant playing until the end. This is pretty lucky, because I still haven’t reached the conclusion. This game is hard. Imagine Vinnie Jones biting diamonds while wearing a bulletproof vest and boxing gloves - well, Returnal is harder than that. Despite not reaching the end of Returnal yet - though in true roguelike fashion, the end is not the end - I’ve played more than enough to appreciate that it might secretly be the best advert for the PS5’s DualSense yet....

Beyond Good and Evil 2 may be a timed exclusive on the Nintendo Switch, if rumors are to be believed. Ubisoft re-announced the game earlier today by showcasing a new trailer for the game during its E3 2017 press conference. The suggestion that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be a timed Switch exclusive comes from high profile leaker and journalist Laura Kate Dale. Dale claims to have spoken to sources who have confirmed that Nintendo is partly funding the upcoming Ubisoft game and also points out that although the first Beyond Good and Evil was a “critical darling,” it sold poorly....

The next Grand Theft Auto installment could feature a female protagonist, much like the upcoming Watch Dogs 3, and, given that Rockstar broke tradition with Grand Theft Auto V by adding two extra playable characters, we wouldn’t put this past them. According to an old video from The Know that has since resurfaced, Grand Theft Auto VI could bring the franchise’s very first female protagonist to the fore. This should be taken with a grain of salt, as there’s no real confirmation from Rockstar on anything concerning GTA VI, but it is entirely possible and we shouldn’t be surprised to see a female main character....

French gaming news website Game Blog, known for leaking insider information, claims Sony will host an event on September 7th to reveal PS4 Slim and PlayStation Neo. When Sony’s E3 2016 press conference came and went without a single mention of PlayStation Neo, many assumed that Sony was saving the console’s reveal for Tokyo Game Show in September. However, it’s now starting to look as though PlayStation Neo will be announced even sooner than Tokyo Game Show, with French gaming site Game Blog claiming the upgraded hardware will have its official unveiling at a special PlayStation event in New York City on September 7th....

Marvelous Interactive released more images for Rune Factory 5 today, showing off the variety of weapons you’ll find during your adventure and providing a detailed look at its combat system. Rune Factory 5 still doesn’t have a release date for most of the world – it’s currently slated for a May 20 release in Japan – but this new library of images is a nice consolation prize. Better yet, most of the screenshots include commentary that reveals more about its characters and combat....

Sea of Thieves continues to maintain it’s growing playerbase as Xbox’s next-generation console arrives. Rare’s Sea of Thieves on Xbox Series X is receiving quite the graphical and performance overhaul thanks to the console’s improved hardware. Additionally, players who have got plans to play Sea of Thieves on the Xbox Series X/S have another treat in store. The official Sea of Thieves Twitter revealed that next-gen console owners can receive a free ship set themed after Xbox’s Duke controller....

Sephiroth’s costumes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been revealed and they reference the Weapon monsters from Final Fantasy 7. In the world of Final Fantasy 7, the planet is a sentient entity and it can respond to global threats. When Jenova first crash-landed on the planet, it created a group of Godzilla-sized behemoths to deal with her. The Cetra dealt with Jenova before these monsters were needed, so they were put to sleep....

Its fourth-wall-breaking narration, procedural format, and lighter, more comedic feel have certainly set it apart from virtually every other entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. So we probably shouldn’t be surprised that its season finale is truly unlike anything we’ve ever seen this franchise attempt before....

Shenmue series creator Yu Suzuki reveals when PC gamers can pre-order Shenmue 3, and also gives an update on the long-awaited game’s development progress. Fans have waited 15 years to get their hands on Shenmue 3, but the wait is almost over. As was announced during the game’s E3 2015 debut at Sony’s press conference, the game is eyeing a 2017 release, and according to series creator Yu Suzuki, it is well on-track to meet that goal....

Sega has already confirmed you’ll see Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster head west in spring of this year, but details since then have remained scarce. However, it looks like the game has already made it before the ESRB and received an M Rating. As highlighted by a tweet from Gematsu, the ESRB has given Nocturne an M rating for blood, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language, and violence. It’s the same rating the game held before, so it comes as no surprise to SMT fans who are familiar with how dark some of Nocturne’s themes go....

All Pokemon players are familiar with the concept of “shinies”: rare Pokémon variations bearing an alternate color scheme. Since they’re incredibly scarce, they serve as a badge of honor for dedicated Trainers, a testament to the hours of searching required to find one. Though they don’t have any special powers, players love shinies for their rarity and unique style. However, not all shiny recolors are done well. It’s bad enough when they barely look different from their original versions, but some are garish or just plain bizarre, detracting from their appeal....

Contrary to what seems to be the popular belief, I think most people who play video games are alright. I get to talk to loads of people who develop games, act for games, play games, write about games, and they’re all lovely folk. But don’t get me wrong: gaming as a whole can be incredibly toxic. I don’t know if it’s because of the type of voices we elevate, the inherent violence and “might is right” mentality of most triple-A games, or a problem with the power systems of the industry....

Keiichiro Toyama, creator of the Silent Hill and Gravity Rush series, recently announced his departure from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan to establish Bokeh Game Studio. The team is composed of many ex-PlayStation developers, including Siren and The Last Guardian producer Kazunobu Sato, and is yet another major departure from Sony’s native first-party studio. While the announcement of Toyama’s departure broke the spirits of a lot of fans hoping he was working on PlayStation 5 exclusive Silent Hill title, fans of the horror series should not write off Toyama’s next project, as he has announced that it will be his return to the horror genre....

Skull and Bones is an upcoming tactical sea-warfare game set during the Golden Age of Piracy. Players will take on the role of pirate captain, plundering the Indian Ocean for loot and glory. Skull and Bones will be the first title from Ubisoft Singapore, and is heavily influenced by the naval combat of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Like Black Flag, Skull and Bones takes place in the Golden Age of Piracy, a period which spans from the 1650s to the 1730s....

Sky has announced that its next major software update for Sky Glass and Sky Stream will be with us this week. Titled Entertainment OS 1.1, the update will be delivered over-the-air and will bring the long-awaited Personalised Playlists feature - Sky’s answer to profiles. It allows different users in a household to add shows to their own playlist, which can then be switched between on screen. This has been a much-requested feature from the initial launch of Sky Glass, as currently users have to share a playlist and, therefore, it can be filled with content of many different tastes....
