During today’s EA Play conference, Electronic Arts revealed a new trailer for its next EA Origins title, Sea of Solitude. The game is being developed by a Berlin-based studio named Jo-Mei, which announced the game several years ago prior to it being picked up as an EA Origins title in 2016. The game’s creative director, Cornelia Geppert, states, “When humans become lonely, they become monsters. This at the core of the story of SoS”....

In a recent interview with CNBC, SEGA Games CEO Haruki Satomi discussed his early history with SEGA, and a few of the things the company is planning on doing in Japan. Fans will probably be most interested in his statements on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. First, CNBC notes that after Satomi joined with SEGA, he issued a statement later saying that he “betrayed the trust of the fans.” This is referring to a 2015 interview Satomi had with Famitsu....

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal will be in attendance at The Game Awards tonight, with a special announcement for fans of cult 1990s fighting game Shaq Fu. Video game sponsorship deals have produced some strange releases over the years, but it’s fair to say that few of them are quite as bizarre as the interdimensional Mortal Kombat knock-off Shaq Fu. If you’ve never heard of that particular title, get ready for an education during tonight’s broadcast of The Game Awards....

When we last saw Shazam’s arch-nemesis Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) during a mid-credits sequence at the end of 2019’s Shazam!, the mad scientist and Seven Deadly Sins host had been defeated by the title hero and was firmly ensconced at Rock Falls Penitentiary. It was in his cell that he was approached by the super-intelligent alien centipede — and fellow Shazam super-villain — Mister Mind, who offered to form an alliance with Sivana and promised that the Seven Realms would be theirs for the taking....

Fans of many JRPGs are familiar with the idea of multiple endings, but few have as many variant endings as Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne. This game is known for its depth in the genre, being one of the classic favorites of the Shin Megami Tensei series among other popular favorites like the Persona series. Getting each ending involves creating a new world with a specific Reason, which is to say the player must choose a mantra or intention to frame the universe when it’s remade....

There are a lot of issues wrapped up in these two tiny, fairly inconsequential lines in the fifth episode of this new branch of the franchise. Some of these come from the fact that Star Trek is now over 50 years old, and language has changed and evolved in that time. Back in the early twentieth century, ‘slang’ words like ‘spiffing’ might have been considered forbidden (as they are in Elinor M Brent Dyer’s Chalet School books), while by the 1960s, ‘damn’, though considered inappropriate by some Christians (because it refers to damning someone to Hell) was considered mild enough by the networks to allow Bones to say ‘dammit’ several times on the Original Series....

Each of the six schools of magic in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is useful and worth checking out at some point. With enough knowledge and experience, it is not uncommon to find completely broken ways to abuse various spells that can be learned in the great, cold north of Tamriel. The one most attuned to the inclinations of devious Dragonborn mages, or even thieves, is Illusion. This sinister school of magic allows players to target friends and foes alike with effects such as Calm, Fear, Courage, and Frenzy....

Skyward Sword makes a lot of changes to The Legend of Zelda formula that add up, but perhaps the most significant inclusion was the addition of the game’s upgrade system. By finding different bugs and treasure in the overworld, Link can bring his materials back to the Skyloft Bazaar to either enhance his Potions or outright improve his equipment. With the inclusion of treasure comes some light RNG elements and grinding that makes upgrading everything something of a chore compared to most Zelda games....

While many of you were tucking into turkey on Christmas Day, someone was cooking up something called Gamer Ramen, and we’re not sure how we feel about it. Sony has just announced a brand new, Zelda-like MMO for VR, dubbed Zenith, coming at some point in 2021. While it features sword combat and your usual fantasy tropes, it is set in a futuristic city of which the game is named after. There are a lot of features prevalent in Zenith, one particularly stands out as an inclusion that will give people afraid of heights the willies. You can climb “anything,” be it cliff faces or skyscrapers, of which treasure can be uncovered....

Blizzard fans have had a recent shortage of details in regards to the long-awaited dungeon-crawler Diablo 3. Luckily, the 2011 Spike VGAs changed all that, with the studio unveiling the entire opening cinematic of the game, filled to the brim with atmosphere and story hints. A fantastic art style and return of a series legend mark the beginning of what will inevitably be one of 2012’s most anticipated games. At this point the wait for Diablo 3 has become somewhat of a bad joke for many, but the massive delays have resulted in a few unforeseen advantages....

It’s been months since Capcom has mentioned Resident Evil 7, but news coming out of Japan indicates that the company isn’t quite done with the game just yet. Not only has the free Not A Hero expansion been dated for December 14th, but it will launch alongside newly announced DLC called End of Zoe. Not much is known about Resident Evil 7’s End of Zoe DLC, except that it will star Zoe Baker and be set after the events of the base game....

In a press release, Capcom reveals new sales figures for Resident Evil 7 including the fact that the game has already shipped out 2.5 million copies in less than a week. After a couple of middling releases, Capcom has once again struck gold with Resident Evil 7. Following a wave of positive critical and fan reception, it seems both the franchise and fanbase has once again been reinvigorated thanks to the mix of familiar and fresh ideas in the game....
