Now that Batman: Arkham City has been on retail store shelves for almost four months now it was high time that developer Rocksteady Studios start talking secrets, and what better secret to discuss than the game’s controversial ending. Though not as polarizing as some storylines contained within the Batman comic books, the ending to Arkham City cements the property as one of the boldest Dark Knight tales in quite some time....
As if it needed to be said, many fans would agree that the BioShock trilogy contains a few of the top games of the last generation. Some might even go as far as to say that 2K Games’ and Irrational Games’ imaginative dystopian series is one of the most important and engrossing franchises in gaming history, making for some of the best fantasy game worlds. Due to Irrational Games shutting down, the studio said that they were done with the vibrant worlds of Rapture and Columbia forever, but their parent company insisted the BioShock series would live on, as 2K Games assured fans of future a sequel with a new setting....
Diablo 3 has come a long way since its initial release on PC back in 2012, its forthcoming release on the portable Nintendo Switch marking the series’ entry into the portable market. And if a listing on Target.com is to be believed, players could be hacking and slashing through dungeons on-the-go sooner than they might have expected. Target’s online product listing for Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on Switch has it releasing on December 20th....
Last year, it was discovered in the Switch’s 4.0.0 update that the GameCube adapter was compatible. This meant that the popular GameCube controller was usable on the Switch. This, however, seemed unintentional, as even Nintendo was surprised. Reggie Fils-Aimé told Kotaku back in October that “I think it’s fair to say, Stephen, that that peripheral working was as much a surprise to us as it was to consumers.” While not unofficial, the GameCube adapter working on Switch doesn’t seem like it was supposed to be a feature....
A photograph appears to leak June 2016’s free Games with Gold, which will apparently include Ryse: Son of Rome on Xbox One and Red Dead Redemption on Xbox 360. At the end of each month, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can always count on Microsoft’s Major Nelson announcing the next month’s free Games with Gold games. However, it appears as though June 2016’s free Games with Gold have been leaked a little bit ahead of time, and if the leak is accurate, next month could be one of the better months for the program....

And now it’s “New York, new rules” for Scream 6, as the previous film’s surviving crop of tormented teens leaves Woodsboro for the Big Apple. Scream 6 is poised to be one of 2023’s biggest horrors, and it’s already honored its history with a brilliant marketing poster which retraced the past 27 years of spills and kills....
Update:Kotaku has received word from publisher Devolver Digital that Google has secured timed exclusivity on Stadia, which is keeping Serious Sam 4 from releasing on consoles until 2021. We can expect ports to PS4 and Xbox One sometime next year. After what seems like an eternity, Croteam’s Serious Sam 4 is nearly ready for its debut. In a new teaser released this morning, publisher Devolver Digital has confirmed that Sam’s return will be released in August 2020....
Last month, Tomb Raider fans got a brief look at the combat and action set-pieces of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This month, Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics are giving fans a better look at the other half of the game. The current iteration of Tomb Raider certainly thrives on combat, but its exploration and puzzle elements are just as important. The minds behind the project realize this and have made some important changes to further emphasize them this time around....
Simply put, Shenmue 3 is a game that fans of the franchise thought they’d never see. Due to the insane budget demands of the previous games in the series, with little financial return, Sega outright abandoned Shenmue, and all hope to ever see a conclusion to the story diminished. Then, at E3 2015, hell froze over. Shenmue 3 received an official announcement during Sony’s press conference, unveiled as a Kickstarter project from series creator Yu Suzuki, to be developed by his studio Ys Net....
Skull and Bones hasn’t been in Ubisoft’s spotlight for some time now, and now after numerous delays, it’s looking like Ubisoft has entirely rebooted the game. Skull and Bones was originally announced as a game with an open-world model, but according to new reports from Ubisoft, that may not entirely be the case any longer. First revealed at E3 in 2017, Skull and Bones more or less disappeared from the gaming industry’s radar after that, aside from a small preview at E3 in 2018....
Skyrim’s world is home to nine different Holds, with each Hold having unique unmarked locations inside them. In the Whiterun Hold, exploring outside of the city will allow players to discover some interesting locations — often telling a story. These stories can range from a dead body to a puzzle that needs to be solved for a reward. Some of these unmarked locations can only be found after completing certain quests, while others can be found as soon as the player starts the game....
Skyrim is a timeless masterpiece with an incredibly fleshed out world. Considering that there is enough lore in Skyrim for players to get completely lost in, its no wonder that some questions have been left unanswered. One of the biggest points of contention has been the Falmer. An ancient elven race that has fallen from grace. The Falmer and their loyal pets, the Chaurus, are considered by many to be some of the toughest enemies in the game....
Bethesda gave some new details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch port of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim during their E3 conference. The surprise new feature in the Switch port is added amiibo functionality. If the player touches a Legend of Zelda amiibo to the right Joy-Con or the Pro Controller, then they can obtain unique gear from Breath of the Wild. The footage shown in the Skyrim Switch E3 trailer revealed a few of the new items that will be available through scanning the Zelda amiibos....
Independent developer Rebellion announces that the next game in the Sniper Elite series, Sniper Elite 4, will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One this year. Fans of X-ray testicle explosions should be excited: Rebellion has officially announced that its historical sniping franchise is returning for PC and new-gen consoles later this year as Sniper Elite 4. What’s more, the company has also confirmed the game’s setting to be Italy in 1943, at the height of World War II....

Everyone is going to work, food supplies are good, and things are working better than they have in a long time, so long as you don’t look too deep into what is going on behind the scenes....
Sony and Epic Games announced today that Sony has invested $250 million into Epic Games, becoming a minority shareholder in the company. Sony’s investment into Epic Games gives Sony a 1.4% in the studio. This increases the Fortnite publisher’s value to $17.86 billion, according to VentureBeat. The partnership allows Sony and Epic to collab on future events in Fortnite, and continue to innovate on the Unreal Engine. Fortnite has had in-game events in the past revolving around debuting movie trailers, having live concerts, and new skins based off of other IP’s....
While we may never know what truly happened in the year since Driveclub’s proposed launch and its eventual launch, developer Evolution Studios is seemingly trying to calm gamer outrage with what have been, by and large, excuses. They know that the socially connected racing game’s debut was far from perfect and although strides have been made towards stability, Driveclub is still not where Evolution hoped it would be. So far, though, Sony had yet to chime in on the Driveclub kerfuffle, outside of a few calculated press release quotes....
After a few months of anticipation, Bandai Namco has announced the final addition to the season 2 roster of fighters, with the return of a classic character to its popular weapon fighter, SoulCalibur 6, coming this December. Revealed in a new trailer, Hwang is being added to the ever-expanding roster for SoulCalibur 6, along with a free update that adds a new stage to fight in, more costumes for characters in the game, and more additions to the character creator for players to mess around with....
