A new rumor claims Nintendo has big plans for Mario’s 35th anniversary, including a new installment in the Paper Mario series. Nintendo hasn’t said too much regarding Super Mario lately. The last game, Super Mario Maker 2, released back in June. Even during the company’s recent mini Direct, Mario was nowhere to be seen. Still, the iconic character can’t stay idle for long. Nintendo did announce a LEGO collaboration recently. If a new rumor is to be believed, that is just the beginning of Mario’s 2020....

RuneScape’s 20th-anniversary storyline continues today with Once Upon A Time: Flashback. This new quest sees you rewriting Gielinor’s past to save its future by helping Closure the ghost and Death save iconic characters from an early death. Apparently, Relomia is up to no good yet again, as they’ve gone back in time to alter the past by killing off characters from RuneScape’s storied history. It’ll be up to you to stop the plan by revisiting three classic quests and setting the story straight....

The last anyone had seen of the Boss in the Saints Row franchise, he had defeated Zinyak and effectively became the new emperor of the Zin empire. While he was already one of the best fictitious presidents in video games, the last installment in this open-world action-adventure franchise saw the Boss turn it up a notch, but since, he has been missing in the video games industry. Scott Phillips, one of the men behind the Boss, has since moved onto Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but the Saints Row director was recently asked about the franchise in an interview....

Mobile gaming is becoming more popular by the day, now accounting for around 30 per cent of all digital game sales in the UK. It has lead to a rise in games-specific devices, such as the Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro and RedMagic 8 Pro. However, while Samsung has extolled the benefits of mobile gaming for years, it has never ranged a dedicated handset. The company did dabble with a gamepad for Galaxy phones about a decade ago, but didn’t really explore the market much further....

Today marks the return of Battletoads, with the first game in the series in over 15 years now available on Xbox One and PC. The title has received mixed but otherwise positive reception from several outlets and developer Rare is certainly pleased with finally releasing the co-op beat ’em up. So much so, it’s doing some cross-promotion with its pirate game Sea of Thieves. As of today, a Battletoads-themed Fightin’ Frogs ship set is available in Sea of Thieves, allowing players to sail the seas with their love of Battletoads on full display....

In a statement by the game’s publisher, it was announced that the release date for Shenmue 3 would be delayed until 2019. Accompanied by a comment from designer Yu Suzuki, the statement gave only vague details explaining the delay, arguing that more time would be utilized to give the long-anticipated title the polish it deserves. This marks the second considerable delay in Shenmue 3’s release timeframe. Just under a year ago, after the development team canceled their E3 appearance, Yu Suzuki announced that the release window would move from its initial target, December 2017, to the later half of 2018....

Since its launch, battle royale fans have continued to enjoy Call of Duty: Warzone. Developer Infinity Ward has continued to supply players of the free-to-play game with new weapons and playable characters. Although the game recently reached 30 million players, some, like popular Mixer streamer Shroud, believe that the game’s days on top are numbered. Shroud’s complaints do not come from disliking the game. The streamer previously said Call of Duty: Warzone was better than Apex Legends....

Seems like every other day brings with it a new rumor about a Silent Hill game. Since the scrapped Kojima-led project back in 2012, it has been looking less and less likely that we will get another entry into the horror franchise. However, a recent interview with composer Akira Yamaoka has re-fueled the rumors that a new Silent Hill game may be heading to our consoles soon. Yamaoka, who has composed the music for every entry in the Silent Hill franchise, recently gave an interview to the Arabic gaming site Al Hub where he discussed the projects he had worked on....

DC’s champions, the Justice League come together to defend their universe (and sometimes multiverse) whenever the occasion calls. Unlike the MCU which gradually built to the Avengers, the DCEU wanted to introduce its Justice League more or less immediately. While Joss Whedon’s theatrical cut showed why this was such a bad idea on paper, Justice League’s Snyder Cut proved that the DCEU could have introduced an entire team’s worth of characters in a single movie....

Sony has officially ended its production of the PlayStation Vita, with the halt taking effect this past Saturday. This hardly comes as a surprise, as the electronics company had announced in September that the handheld gaming console would be killed off in Japan this year. Last month, it was confirmed that production was winding down, and, as of this past weekend, the platform’s last two SKU have been discontinued on the Vita’s official product page....

The horror genre is abundant in gaming, from classic series like Resident Evil to newer hits like the Dark Pictures Anthology. On the periphery of this genre are titles that deliver horror in an unexpected package, including a personal favorite of mine: Luigi’s Mansion. Luigi’s Mansion was a well-received launch title for the Nintendo GameCube, praised at release for its then-stunning graphics, straightforward mechanics, and moments of hilarity. One of its less-highlighted elements that drew praise was its soundtrack, which might be one of gaming’s greatest....

Little girls growing up wanting to be princesses might think again after seeing Kristen Stewart in this dramatized snapshot of three days in the life of the late ‘people’s princess,’ Lady Diana Spencer. Though the movie doesn’t deal with Diana’s death, the looming knowledge of what is to come for the young mother hangs heavy throughout. But instead of directly dealing with that sorrow, Pablo Larraín’s “fable from a true tragedy” focuses on the gilded cage of Diana’s life over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day in 1991....

Resident Evil 2 make it onto the shortlist of games that Sony shared on stage at its E3 2018 press conference, but that’s not the last of the title that we’ll see this week. In addition to the trailer shared during the showcase, a second trailer also dropped that shows off even more gameplay and cinematic cutscenes. The Resident Evil 2 trailer shares some footage from the showcase reveal, but also mixes in some new material and some additional plot details thanks to dialogue....

Even though most of the characters in The Last of Us 2 seemed to have their stories end when the credits rolled, that doesn’t mean they are gone forever. Thanks to modder Darkness Valtier, players are able to go through Resident Evil 3 Remake using many of their favorite The Last of Us 2 characters. By swapping the characters in for others, the modder gives The Last of Us 2’s cast new life by putting them into Resident Evil 3, a new kind of apocalypse....
