To say that Max Payne 3 has had a development cycle as rocky as the life of the titular detective would be a gross understatement. The game has been in development for years and was originally slated for a release back in 2009. Unfortunately, mismanagement problems at Rockstar were cited as the main reason that the game was then delayed to 2010. Another delay was revealed when Max Payne 3 was absent from Take-Two’s release schedule for 2011-2012, thus pushing it out of 2011....

Rocksteady Studios has quite the task at hand with the upcoming Suicide Squad title, with somewhat of a tainted memory for the series in public opinion after the 2016 movie. However, the developer’s history with the massively successful Batman Arkham series can pave the way for a stellar new title in the DC Comics universe. WB Games’ choice of developer does raise a few questions about the new Suicide Squad, as well as how it might connect with Rocksteady’s history with Arkham....

Although next to nothing is known about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed release, the one general consensus is that it is based on Vikings. Plenty of Assassin’s Creed rumors and leaks have cropped up since the initial reveal of that, as is typically given Ubisoft’s trend of leaks before a proper summer reveal, but the latest is perhaps the most strange. Before moving forward, it’s worth mentioning that there is little to no reason to believe that this rumor is legit....

Fan-favorite map Nuketown will be returning in this year’s Call of Duty, according to rumors on Twitter. Even though the game has not been officially announced by Activision, all signs point to this year’s entry in the Call of Duty series being Black Ops: Cold War. The hints started in Warzone earlier this month with clues inside bunker 11, which includes a Cold War-era spy plane. While some believe that Cold War will be announced within Warzone in a Fortnite-style event, it is also possible that the next Call of Duty will be revealed during Sony’s PS5 presentation later this week....

Developer The Outsiders is calling out to metalheads and Doom fans in its new trailer for Metal: Hellsinger. The rhythm FPS will be released next year featuring all of Hell’s creatures. Debuted on Twitter, the shooter’s trailer served as a mini music video too, featuring the heavy metal track Poetry of Cinder by Black Crown Initiate’s James Dorton. Doom players will know all about slaying whilst headbanging, as the popular FPS is known for its therapeutic score....

Persona 4 Golden remained a trapped critical darling believed to forever be locked to Sony’s PlayStation Vita handheld or its stationary form the PlayStation TV. After eight years of being a PlayStation exclusive, Persona 4 Golden finally released on PC and it appears it won’t be the last of Sega’s classic IPs to do so. In Sega’s recent quarterly earnings investor presentation (as translated through Persona Central), the company addresses the unexpected success of Persona 4 Golden on PC....

Video game mega-sensation Minecraft recently announced a tie-in with Star Wars because somehow the omnipresent space opera hadn’t already been brought over to the proc-gen voxel-based geometric survival-crafter that pioneered a whole genre of games. The crossover will include new textures for everything, a map featuring 12 planets to be explored with the help of hyperspace travel, and a skin pack featuring characters from series. Now that players are able to dig around looking for diamonds as some of their favorite characters, it begs the question: What other intellectual properties from film and television would lend themselves well to the literally infinite world of Minecraft with visually interesting character skins or even world maps for players to explore?...

Lab Zero Games, the creators of the renowned Skullgirls fighting game franchise, are working on a new IP, Indivisible. Indivisible is a side-scrolling RPG “in the vein of Valkyrie Profile,” and it is coming to Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, and PS4 in 2018. The game was crowdfunded on IndieGogo and has gathered more than $2 million. Indivisible combines a variety of exploration mechanics with a unique battle system, along with the animation style that the Skullgirls franchise is known for....

Skyrim is easily one of my favourite games. When it came out, there was very little to compare with it in terms of size and scope. As an RPG experience, it united lore and presentation into a seemingly perfect marriage of aesthetics and longevity. High School is going to get a lot more interesting for aspiring gaming athletes thanks to a new partnership between Nintendo and PlayVS. Three of Nintendo’s most popular online competitive titles will now be officially recognized esports at the high school level in Canada and the US. Students at selected schools will be able to compete in Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This new initiative will start on September 20, beginning with Smash Bros....

At Sony’s Investor Relations Day 2018, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera worried fans by suggesting that the PS4 is in the final stages of its life cycle. Fans instantly began to speculate on whether this would mean that support for the console would be ending sometime soon as Sony turns its efforts to the future of the brand, presumably the PlayStation 5. But fans can rest easy as it seems that Sony isn’t quite done with the console yet....

After tons of speculation about what the second title would be this month, Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting Star Wars: Battlefront II and Call of Duty: WW2 as their free games this month. Two relatively high-profile releases, it’s kind of a bummer that both titles are shooters. Not everyone wants that or can even play said games. WW2 might not be worth that much, but Battlefront 2 has dramatically turned around from its 2017 release....

PlayStation Now is growing strength by strength, and players will be able to witness that as Sony is charging just $1 for the first month. There are a few caveats, however. Vivftp on ResetEra claims that the offer is available only to North Americans and it will be valid for new subscribers exclusively. This promotion ends relatively quickly too on March 29 at 10 am Pacific. While recent first-party titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Sackboy: A Big Adventure (which beat Animal Crossing at the BAFTA awards this week) aren’t on the service yet, it still offers a beefy selection of games to choose from....

The PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game from Insomniac Games has impressed since it was announced at Sony’s E3 2016 press conference.
