A new study from the University of Montreal in Quebec, Canada claims that playing action games can cause parts of the brain to atrophy, possibly leading to permanent damage and brain disease. Associate professor of psychology Greg West ran a full neuro-imaging study scanning the brains of “habitual” action/shooter game players and non-game players, followed by two longitudinal studies. The results showed that certain game players had less grey matter in the hippocampus portion of the brain, potentially contributing to issues with memory, spatial awareness, or even emotional regulation....

A lot of mods add whole new ways to play The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, but few are as substantial as SureAI’s Enderal: Forgotten Stories total conversion mod. However, until recently, the mod hasn’t been easily compatible with Skyrim: Special Edition, which comes with a number of enhancements that most players otherwise have to add to the base game from external sources. While SureAI recently announced it will not be working on adding compatibility to port the Skyrim mod over to the Special Edition version, some fans are taking it upon themselves to push the project forward....

It appears the debate over frame rates and resolutions will not be ending any time soon, as Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games confirms its upcoming Marvel collaboration will not run at 1080p and 60 frames per second. According to Insomniac, 1080p60 is “not really an option” as far as the PS4 and the PS4 Pro are concerned. This most recent revelation regarding Spider-Man comes by way of a Twitter Q&A. One fan asked whether or not the game would take advantage of the power of the PS4 Pro, and Insomniac suggested that it won’t in the way the fan expects....
