The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which originally launched in 2011, has a whopping 93 on Metacritic, indicating unanimous critical acclaim for one of the most well known games in a flagship Nintendo series. While the new Skyward Sword HD only has an 82 at the time of writing, the only Zelda games with higher average scores than the original are A Link to the Past, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, The Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, and Breath of the Wild, most of which are genuinely better than it - I’m not telling you which ones I think are worse, because that ruins the fun....

On Aug. 11, Mike Richards was named the late Alex Trebek’s replacement as permanent Jeopardy! host. Today Richards resigned, ending what had become one of the ugliest sagas in the normally wholesome TV institution’s history. Jeopardy! had already begun filming its 38th season with Richards in the host role. Production had gotten through about a week’s worth of episodes before Richards’ resignation. Earlier this week, Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated was released to the joy of many longtime fans of the cult-classic platformer. What players had to look forward to was a mostly unchanged game, but with the added benefits of enhanced graphics and a multiplayer mode. Critically, the game has opened up to mixed reviews overall, with some praising THQ Nordic for building the game well from the ground up while others wish the company did more to bring this game into the new era of 3D platformers....

Square Enix may release a wide range of games every year, but its bread and butter continues to be the Final Fantasy franchise. After teasing a demo for Resident Evil 3 Remake at the end of February, Capcom has officially confirmed that the demo will be releasing this Thursday on March 19 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The Resident Evil franchise appears to be throwing fans yet another curveball with Resident Evil: Village. Only once gamers play the title on May 7th, 2021 will we know how the setting and villains connect to the rest of the Resident Evil games. Until then, all we can do is sort out the information we have gathered from the trailers and playable demo, Maiden, and ponder the burning questions we have....

Resident Evil Village is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7, retaining that game’s first-person viewpoint as well as playable hero Ethan Winters. In what has only been a matter of hours since the initial announcement, Riot Games have ended the controversial partnership between the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) and NEOM, the Saudi Arabian future city. First Strike is Valorant’s new global tournament series organized by Riot Games, an extended event that will culminate in a nail-biting championship running from December 3 through December 6 of this year.
