Rocket League is taking its partnership with Monstercat to the next level with items that sync to the music and a whole new concert setting as a map. The cars for Season 2’s Rocket Pass look like they’re from a rave as they have neon paint and pulse light in time with the music playing around them. If there’s a particular song you like that’s available from the Monstercat library, you can set it to play when you score a goal, perform an epic save, and earn MVP honors at the end of the match....

I’ve been an avid fan of RPGs ever since I first booted up a family friend’s copy of Pokemon Blue when I was three years old. There’s something genuinely magical about roleplaying games - on one hand, you’re emphatically playing as a character that someone else designed, or, at the very least, you fashioned one based on an avatar creation suite they facilitated. On the other, you’re afforded almost boundless freedom to take that malleable character and mould them like soft playdough....

Overwatch 2 was announced at BlizzCon 2019, and with the game aiming for current-gen consoles, many fans expected it to launch this year. Hideo Kojima teased his new FOX Engine that rivaled real-life graphic imagery and a security firm predicted a 2014 release for Metal Gear Solid 5, making it a potential PS4 release if it is utilizing the FOX Engine....

RuneScape is celebrating 20 years of adventure in 2021, and Jagex is already starting to tease the events we can look forward to in the coming months. A cryptic tweet from the official RuneScape account is telling players they are “invited to the RS20 Grand Party” on January 4. Nothing else is mentioned, but if the last anniversary event is anything to go by, you can expect a ridiculous amount of new content and rewards....

Valve’s quirky, cell-shaded, and highly addictive team based first person shooter, Team Fortress 2, still has surprises in store for his in the future. Unfortunately, Valve isn’t speaking on any of the details except to say that it’s “really cool” and that it has nothing to do with new maps, new hats, or map-hat hybrids (which boggle the mind). Team Fortress 2 has achieved a wonderful popularity among the PC group, especially once it had gone free to play, which some fans didn’t agree with....

The new Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle expansion has brought a lot of changes to the game. One of the biggest is neighborhood action plans, also known as N.A.P.s. They offer different ways of affecting your world and can be voted on each week by both your sims and your neighbors. For now, it seems that vanilla Valheim will retain a muggle existence, but thankfully, a brand new mod provides magic-inclined Vikings with access to the arcane arts. Oh dear, it seems 2020 has done it again. Raiser Games - the publishers of the critically-acclaimed survival horror Song of Horror - has made the difficult decision to delay the release of the console version of the game until next year. Song of Horror was due to come to consoles at the end of this month (we even had it on our list of five great horror titles to look out for during the Month of Spooks), but unfortunately you’ll now need to wait until Q1 2021 before welcoming it onto your consoles....

Sega’s worst-kept secret is now official: Sonic Colors is coming back to modern platforms and in an enhanced format. During today’s Sonic 30th anniversary stream, the company announced Sonic Colors Ultimate for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch with an early September release date. Not only will the game have fancy new HD visuals, but there are some extras in the form of Movie Sonic extras. It’s not substantial like a character skin, but players will be able to adorn their profiles with the film’s take on the blue blur....

Sony is making bold strokes in the world of anime, as negotiations for the acquisition of Crunchyroll are reaching their climax. If things go as planned, the media giant will acquire the anime streaming service for approximately $957 million dollars, adding the site to their already formidable anime offerings. With E3 2017 still in full swing, Insomniac Games continues to reveal even more information about its upcoming PS4 exclusive based on the iconic Marvel hero, Spider-Man, with the developer having recently touched on some of its campaign details. As it so happens, a couple of the more interesting tidbits to come from the studio’s creative director Bryan Intihar confirms that the forthcoming action-adventure release’s story mode will feature a “mostly” open world and contain gameplay that has fans take on the role of Peter Parker....

An all-new trailer has released for Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, showing some behind-the-scenes footage of the development team creating the superhero game that fans have been waiting for. Alongside new gameplay footage and some intriguing developer commentary, one new image might be our first clear look at Wilson Fisk himself - AKA The Kingpin. It’s just one shot among many but the gun-wielding crimelord is fighting in a setting that looks extravagant enough to be the Kingpin’s lair....

Spyro the Dragon is one of my all-time favourite franchises in gaming, but it has always seemed a little hard to define. It’s a platformer, obviously, but it’s often compared to Crash Bandicoot, though the two are nothing alike. They share a character designer in Charles Zembillas, both released in the same era, and both have a bit of a bouncy walk, but honestly - that’s it. I’ve played every game with these two mascots (almost: I skipped Spyro Orange and Skylanders, sue me), so I think I have a pretty good idea of their similarities and differences, and my biggest takeaway is this: more open-world games need to pay attention to what Spyro did with Dream Weavers....
