Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin takes elements of series like the Story of Seasons series and Stardew Valley, and smashes them together with fun platforming action. Players take control of Sakuna, the daughter of a warrior god and harvest goddess. Banished to the Isle of Demons, players must both farm and fight their way out of banishment. Players familiar with farming sims and platformers will find a lot to enjoy here, but its deliberate withholding of key information can make things a bit of a drag in the beginning....

Director Michael Bay’s The Rock remains a quintessential summer movie season offering. Having been released in 1996—one of the best years for action blockbusters—Bay’s classic squared off the Top 4 box office earners, just behind classics like Independence Day, Twister and Mission: Impossible. Interestingly, while the onscreen grizzled gravitas of the recently passed Sean Connery complemented its interminable onslaught of pulse-pounding action, it appears that the late, great star also contributed to the film in an existential way....

During a recent investor Q&A, Sega revealed that they intend to focus more on PC ports of their classic games and other future titles. “Going forward, we intend to aggressively promote the porting of previously launched titles to Steam and other new platforms,” says a Sega representative (via GamesIndustry.biz). “Under such direction, we would like to take multi-platform rollout in account and prepare the PC version and others from the start....

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve spoken to quite a few people who have, at some point, worked on the Mass Effect series at BioWare. Several of these developers now work on completely different projects at other studios, although I thought it would be worth asking them if they’d ever return to Mass Effect. In most cases, the answer was yes - but it often came with the same condition....

Ever since Twitch streamer Shroud had his scooter accident last month, the popular gamer (and former esports competitor) hasn’t been able to stream that much. Last week, he told fans that due to the pain after surgery, he’s going to have to stay offline for a while. While most of the community has been sympathetic to Shroud’s injuries (which, luckily, were not to his gaming hand), one streaming competitor is using the opportunity to poke a little sporting fun at Shroud....

In case you decided to spend your Monday under a rock (valid move, honestly), you probably saw that Nintendo announced the next DLC Smash Bros. fighter. It’s Min Min, the “Ramen Bomber” of ARMS fame. Min Min packs her stretchy noodle arm, a dragon cannon, and the ability to switch hand weapons. She also comes with some friends in the form of new Mii costumes. One of these costumes seems a little out of place until you consider one little detail....

Released in 2017, Resident Evil 7 was a landmark survival horror title that reignited interest in the franchise and re-established the prowling-around-a-house-counting-your-ammo kind of gameplay for which the series had originally been known. However, in a somewhat unexpected twist, Capcom also saw fit to release a PlayStation-exclusive VR port of the title. The VR version took the intense horror aspects of the title to new heights. Playing Resident Evil 7 in virtual reality was an enthralling experience that has yet to be replicated....

The next chapter of the ongoing console wars saga is about to kick off. With the likes of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One not set to hit store shelves until later this year, there’s still plenty of time for gamers to weigh their options and decide which platform they’ll invest in. When it comes down to it, though, it’s the software that’ll act as the biggest motivator for purchase, and apparently Sony has plenty of unannounced titles still left to be unveiled....

Sony announces that, starting in April, its hardware, software, and networking divisions are combining into one new company called Sony Interactive Entertainment. Big structural changes have been announced at Sony, which should shake up the way that both hardware and software are developed for the company going forward. In a surprise announcement, the company reveals that all of the PlayStation divisions are being combined under the single umbrella of Sony Interactive Entertainment....

Sony’s next-generation console, the PlayStation 5, is set to launch in just a few weeks time on November 12. The PS5 will be launching alongside a number of titles, though it only has a couple of true exclusive games. Unfortunately, one of the PS5 exclusive launch games has been delayed to next year, though it’s not all bad news for PlayStation fans. Destruction AllStars, the PS5 exclusive from Lucid Games, has been delayed from its planned November 12 release date to sometime in February 2021....

A new report claims Sony will start production on a PS5 redesign next year, but it won’t alter the console’s external appearance. Suppliers that are a part of the PS5’s manufacturing chain have reportedly been told production on a new console model will begin as early as 2022. This is according to a report from DigiTimes which cites semiconductor producer TSMC as one of the companies readying itself for the next stage in the PS5’s life cycle....

Days of Play is finally coming back with a special PlayStation 4 limited edition console as well as discounts to select PlayStation Games. The limited edition Days of Play PlayStation 4 has a one-terabyte hard drive with a golden PlayStation symbol emblazoned atop the electric blue console and comes with a matching Dual Shock 4 controller. While this version will only be available in the US and Canada, a similar edition is being released in Europe and Australia but the hard drive is only 500 gigabytes and it comes with two controllers....

While the Soulcalibur series has its fair share of popular homegrown fighters, there’s also a tradition of including platform-exclusive guest characters. No guest characters have been announced for the upcoming Soulcalibur 6 just yet, but new rumors may have prematurely revealed which guest fighters will be making their way to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game. A user on 4chan posted what is said to be the full roster list of Soulcalibur 6, including the console-exclusive guest fighters....

The Space Invaders Forever collection brings about a return to the series on modern platforms. Comprised of three games in total, it will release on December 11 for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch both physically and digitally for $29.99. Strangely enough, the Space Invaders Forever Collection will only be making its way to stores in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. So, sorry South American, African, and Asian gamers!...

The United States of America is once again celebrating launching US astronauts into space via a US-made spaceship from US soil. Astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley took off from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center on Saturday via the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule and a Falcon 9 rocket. It’s the first time astronauts have launched into orbit from the USA in nearly a decade. Also significant is that Saturday’s launch marked the first-ever privately owned human vehicle to launch into orbit....

It was nearly two years ago when developer Crystical Dynamics and publisher Square Enix officially unveiled the next installment in the core Tomb Raider series, a reboot, featuring a younger (and more proportionate) Lara Croft. The new Tomb Raider drops the any subtitles and numbers for the franchise name and promises to be the more realistic, harshest game in the series, one that would deservedly earn an M rating. The game has been nearly four years in the works and after a delay to 2013, it won’t be long before we embark on Lara’s most harrowing adventure yet....

A Splinter Cell animated series was announced as a Netflix exclusive last summer, and ever since then, Ubisoft has stayed silent on the next Sam Fisher project. However, according to a recent update provided by series writer Derek Kolstad, there will be plenty of time for game announcements until Splinter Cell sneaks its way onto Netflix. Kolstad is most famously known as the screenwriter for the John Wick film saga and he’s recently been involved in writing at least a couple of episodes for Disney Plus’ exciting The Falcon and the Winter Soldier....

Square Enix has officially announced the English voice cast for Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139, and fans may be happy to know that a majority of the original actors have reprised their roles. Here’s the main cast in order of appearance: Ray Chase – Adult Protagonist Zach Aguilar – Young Protagonist Liam O’Brien – Grimoire Weiss Laura Bailey – Kainé Julie Ann Taylor – Emil Eden Riegel – Devola/Popola The upcoming prequel to Automata is a remake of Nier from 2010, but this time, the main character will be younger as he’s a different protagonist....
