Sonic Forces takes notes from the well-received Sonic Generations by letting players traverse both 3D and 2D environments as both classic and modern Sonic. The story even involves dimension traveling that puts both the Sonics in the same storyline. With both designs of the fast hedgehog being prominently featured in the game, it is natural to compare the two and easier than ever to explore the differences between the two. While they are, of course, fundamentally similar, to say the only difference between the two is their graphics would be a massive oversimplification....

Voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey, who has provided the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog’s dependable companion Miles “Tails” Prower in TV series Sonic Boom, recently confirmed on Twitter that she would not reprise the role for the upcoming Netflix series Sonic Prime. Coming soon after the announcement of the departure of Sonic voice actor Roger Craig Smith, speculation is rife over who will fill these roles in the future. Responding to queries on Twitter, O’Shaughnessey is one of the latest to confirm that she will not be involved with the newest Sonic the Hedgehog project, joining Smith and Amy Rose voice actor Cindy Robinson....

Cowabunga, Inklings! Nintendo has just announced the theme for next month’s Splatoon 2 Splatfest, and things are going to be a little different this time around. Different, and turtle-y. The Splatoon franchise began in May 2015, with the release of the original for Wii U. One of Nintendo’s more quirky ideas (and that’s saying something), the whole thing is an adorably cartoony third-person shooter. Players take the role of Inklings, human/squid hybrids that can switch between forms at will....

Video game remakes are often a double edged sword, but Capcom has found a healthy balance between recreating their games as they were and ensuring they tread new ground with the Resident Evil remakes. Starting with 2002’s classic reimagining of the PS1 Resident Evil, the series has since seen two other remakes that have redefined two of the best entries in the franchise: Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Neither remake is a 1:1 reflection of their source material, however, with Resident Evil 3 in particular doing its own thing entirely....

Love it or loathe it, there’s no denying that the 2012 action-packed Resident Evil 6 was a refreshment of the franchise. Game studios have had a challenging time transitioning to working-from-home due to the pandemic. A GDC survey showed that roughly 33% of developers had their games delayed due to the pandemic. And the produce of that, more often than is comfortable, is development crunch. Such is the case with a GlassDoor review for Apex Legends developer Respawn. A heavily critical review was submitted that has now even led to a response from Apex Legends director Chad Grenier....

Even though Rovio’s popular Angry Birds franchise has tackled everything from Halloween to Space, they’ve only barely scratched the surface as far as licensing opportunities are concerned. To that point we have a tease from Rovio that suggests the franchise’s next venture might be a team-up with Star Wars. The licensing deal was teased via a Rovio-released image that showed a shadowed “Angry Bird,” dressed as a Jedi, with a blue lightsaber....

Like most of Rare’s IPs, the Perfect Dark franchise has been dormant for quite some time. A new entry in the series hasn’t been seen since 2005’s Perfect Dark Zero on the Xbox 360, and at this point, it would hard to blame fans if they assume that the franchise is dead. However, a new rumor has sparked hope that a Perfect Dark reboot could finally happen, as a supposed industry insider has claimed the game is in development....

Prey 2 was revealed almost a year ago, but up until now we’ve heard almost nothing about the game. Unfortunately, we may now have a reason: the game is said to be cancelled. Bethesda has yet to confirm the cancellation of Prey 2 but we’ll supposedly hear more next week. It is being said that Bethesda will release an official statement next week regarding the status of Human Heads’ upcoming shooter....
