It’s hard not to crack up every time one reads or says South Park: The Fractured But Whole aloud, but during the initial phases of the game’s development, show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker actually had a somewhat different title in mind that would have had us laughing in a different way....

Reaching the height of indie stardom when it debuted back in 2008, Spelunky has since become something of a heralded cult classic, with fans frequently praising the game’s procedurally generated dungeons and risk vs reward gameplay. The game pulled in a 87 on Metacritic from 54 critics back on release, with many still acknowledging it as one of the greatest indie games ever conceived. Unfortunately, it took many years for a sequel to materialize, with the studio behind the title, Mossmouth, wanting to take its time to ensure the followup was bigger, bolder, and more expansive than before....

The Splinter Cell games allow players to enjoy diving into a world of both advanced technology and action. However, there are some aspects of the game that do not entirely make sense. Players control stealth expert Sam Fisher as he works as an agent for the National Security Agency (NSA). He battles his way through the game as the leader of a program called Splinter Cell. Though Resident Alien introduced an alien baby earlier this spring before the series went on its midseason hiatus and dropped an even bigger twist several episodes ago by revealing the child is Harry’s literal offspring (thanks, time travel!), neither our titular alien nor the show he stars in has wanted to look too closely at what that truly means. We had a whole episode about parenthood that focused on virtually every character but Harry, and he honestly hasn’t seemed to care all that much about the fact that his child has literally been kidnapped by a team of black ops government soldiers....

Resident Evil is one of the gaming world’s longest and most beloved franchises. The original Resident Evil was published by Capcom in 1996, and it serves as Jill and Chris’s debut encounter with mutated humans, killer dogs, and giant sharks. There has been a ton of Resident Evil game material produced since, much of it worth revisiting (and some of it worth forgetting). From larger setpieces created to provide players with a big fright to more nuanced details lying around the environment for Ethan Winters to stumble across, Resident Evil Village truly has it all. The first act opening section of gameplay takes place within Mia and Ethan Winters’ home in Eastern Europe. This mostly domesticated gameplay section featuring Ethan, Mia, and their daughter, Rose, might not feature intense scares, but instead provides compelling environmental details for players to discover....

If you cringed a little when you found the piano puzzle in Resident Evil Village, you’re not alone. After all, some of the hardest puzzles in Resident Evil history required you to solve complex music mysteries that left you wishing the game would just let you battle an endless army of the undead instead. The very good news is that this piano puzzle isn’t nearly as hard as some of the music-based puzzles in older Resident Evil games....

The latest Apex Legends update is underway and with it comes a slew of fixes and alterations based on community feedback. One of the more noteworthy inclusions is penalties for abandoning Arenas games. If you leave a full game - ones with players missing do not count - you get a similar penalty to the one in Ranked Battle Royale mode. Rocket League is celebrating Black History month by bringing three new songs from Black creators to the game’s soundtrack. The songs will also become available as free Player Anthems later this month. “Continuing our lineage with Monstercat and its catalog of artists who have been an essential part of Rocket League’s in-game experience for years, we’re thrilled to spotlight new music from talented Black artists on the label during this important month,” said the Rocket League team....

One Redditor claims to have datamined images showing the four-star Genshin Impact characters featured in the two Banners that are to follow Klee’s Sparkling Steps. Though it hasn’t been confirmed by the moderators, these bundles make the most sense as supporting four-stars to come alongside Banners featuring the upcoming Childe and Zhongli. With the formal announcement of the 1.1 update coming to Genshin Impact, it’s been confirmed that the next two Banners will feature Zhongli, a polearm and Geo user, and Childe, a Hydro and bow wielder, and it looks like Xiao won’t be releasing as soon as some fans would have hoped....

The original Bully left its mark as a cult classic from Rockstar Games, and ever since, fans have been hoping for a sequel. Over ten years later, news continues to leak that Bully 2 might be in development, and now more evidence has come to light of just that. Previously, it was rumored that Bully 2 was in development from Rockstar Games with the assistance of Pinewood Studios, who would be providing the voice talent to the game....

Sea of Solitude, from developer Jo-Mei and published by Electronic Arts, is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, bringing with it an incredibly deep dive (pun intended) into the themes of depression, loneliness, and hopelessness. The game achieves this through its beautifully constructed abstract world, which can appeal to a wide audience, most of whom can relate to the game’s themes at some level. Sea of Solitude is a charmingly heartbreaking adventure platformer that succeeds in conveying the different ways that we, as humans, experience loneliness and the effect that those feelings have on the people around us....

The Sea of Thieves community may have been expecting Rare to have an in-game celebration of Banjo Kazooie’s 20th anniversary, but until today, it was unknown what form it would take. Many presumed it would be related to the Easter eggs located on Plunder Island or as a Bilge Rat Adventure event, but there was very little evidence to go on. Speed runs are often revered in the gaming world, but these are often more gimmicky than any real indication of skill. This can be seen in the weird records set by speed runs of Super Mario Odyssey. The same, however, could not be said about a speed run of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a game that has quickly become known for its intense difficulty.
