Nintendo has kept its cards close to its chest in regards to the contents of the E3 Direct, but at least one major announcement has been revealed, as Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that the next DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be revealed at E3. Nintendo’s E3 presence kicked off with a series of tournaments for Splatoon 2, Super Mario Maker 2, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on June 8th....

June was a very good month for Sea of Thieves. Not only did the biggest pirate game in recent memory surpass a total of 15 million players, it also reported its highest-ever monthly active player count, with 3.3 million unique users playing the game in the month of June. Upon release Sea of Thieves was met with middling reviews. While the core gameplay was solid, and the setting was unique, both fans and critics alike found the game to be rather thin, lacking deeper content to extend the game’s replayability....

Remakes and remasters are big business these days in the gaming industry, and for many it doesn’t get much better than being able to explore the wilds with Crash Bandicoot once again. Even today, there’s no video game series as oppressive and nihilistic as Shin Megami Tensei. While the spin-off Persona series opts for a far more light and cheery vibe for its aesthetic and soundtrack, the mainline Shin Megami Tensei games feel miserable. The visuals are dark - both in terms of tone and contrast - and the soundtrack’s eerie echoes aren’t memorable or hummable, but unnerving. Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster might be 18 years removed from when it launched, but there are still few other games like it....

Skater XL, the indie developed open-world skateboarding title, has suffered a small delay from its original July 7, 2020, release date. In a post on the Steam community forums, developer Easy Day Studios wrote, “Despite our best efforts, and due in part to things out of our control, we will be moving the launch of Skater XL 1.0 on Steam, as well as the physical and digital launch on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, to July 28th....

Development on The Walking Dead: The Final Season has resumed after being taken over by Skybound Entertainment. When Telltale Games announced their closure at the end of September, you could almost feel the outcry from Walking Dead fans. Episode Two had just been released and it ended on a cliffhanger so cruel that it would surely have led to riots were the game to never be completed, which after Telltale’s announcement seemed to be the case....

Smite is a game that likes to go back in time. Way back, like ancient Greece, Chinese folklore, and Egyptian pantheon. But Season 8 is going to take Smite back even further to the dawn of the written word. The very first gods will be represented in Dawn of Babylon, with the trailer revealing both Gilgamesh and Tiamat joining Smite’s ranks. The trailer starts off pretty standard for Smite, with Cthulu and Zeus duking it out for whatever reason, but then Cthulu gets absolutely ejected from the scene by Tiamat, the Goddess of Salt and Sea....

A Call of Duty: Warzone player spotted a missile heading over the Stadium region of the Warzone map yesterday. Now, some people believe that it may have something to do with Warzone’s upcoming Season 5. However, this may not actually be the case, as while the missile has appeared for some, it hasn’t for others, and those who’ve seen it once haven’t been able to again. The first sighting of the missile was reported over on the Warzone subreddit by user DavidWurgy....

There’s not much point to Skyrim’s Dwemer scrap, with it being used to get Dwarven ingots at a cumbersome cost to your inventory load, while also adding some decoration to the perilous dungeons. However, a keen-eyed Redditor by the name of Phantom-Scribbler dug deeper and made an infographic that points out what each piece of scrap is actually from in-game. Each piece seems to correlate to a part of a Dwemer construct, whether its the decorative strut that can be found atop the centurion’s head, the small Dwemer plate metal that can be found on the front of the rolly ball, or the bent Dwemer scrap metal that’s located on the shoulder-pad of the Dwemer Sphere....

The Video Game History Foundation recently posted The Secrets of Monkey Island - An Evening With Ron Gilbert video to its YouTube channel. Tom Holland went live on his official Instagram account in an attempt to fight boredom and ended up chatting with a young fan. Last week, Capcom hosted a Resident Evil showcase event that gave a clearer picture of what fans should expect from Resident Evil: Village and the Resident Evil franchise as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. During the half-hour presentation, Capcom unveiled a detailed look at Resident Evil: Village’s gameplay, the characters that players will encounter, and the game’s story as a whole. Most importantly, Capcom also announced Resident Evil: Village’s release date, which falls on May 7th, 2021, and the studio also confirmed that the game would launch on the PS4 and Xbox One alongside the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S....

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great return to the classic Tomb Raider formula of discovering interesting secrets filled with places to explore and enemies to fight. While exploring ancient tombs is one of the game’s appealing aspects, the amount of side content packed within Rise of the Tomb Raider is to be commended and worth experiencing.
