Riot Games confirmed today that it will restrict access for VPNs outside of the League of Legends: Wild Rift open beta regions. Players from outside the available regions are attempting to play in the Wild Rift beta through VPNs, disrupting gameplay and causing “game-breaking” problems. The announcement comes from Wild Rift technical operations director Landon McDowell, who states that many players, “far more than [Riot] expected,” want to participate in the game’s open beta....
Today’s PlayStation 5 reveal turned out to be less of a reveal and more of a presentation for developers to learn about what the console will be capable of, but there were some exciting things for players to latch onto during the presentation. Perhaps most exciting of all is what the inclusion of an SSD will mean for next gen load times, because if Sony is able to reach its goal, load times will be 100 times faster than they currently are on PS4....

Jagex announced the winners of its annual Golden Gnome Awards late last week, handing out accolades to the most popular creators in the RuneScape community. Among the winners were J1mmy (Best Music Creation), NoxiousIRL (Best Cosplay Prop), and Faux (Outstanding Community Achievement). The tenth annual Golden Gnome Awards handed out dozens of trophies to members of both the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape community. The less competitive fans of Rust can breath a sign of relief, because a casual mode is here. Facepunch Studios, the developer behind Rust, is now including a Softcore mode aiming at the more casual player base. As a multiplayer-survival game, Rust is not necessarily for the faint of heart. The idea is that players must make their way in a harsh world full of hazards likely resulting in death. PvP is a large part of this, with fans being able to kill each other and steal loot....

Developer SNK is about to release its upcoming Samurai Shodown game on June 25 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it seems there were talks to make it a PC exclusive only, quite possibly through an offer made by Epic Games. Samurai Shodown’s director Nobuyuki Kuroki spoke recently about how the game is shaping up through its development and design, and the digital partnership that was proposed but did not end up solidifying into any formal agreement....
The much-awaited Monster Hunter Rise digital online event happened just recently and the developers have unloaded a bevy of new information on the fanbase. One of them is the launch of new Monster Hunter Rise-themed amiibo that, when scanned, will unlock a special layered armor set for their owners. Layered armor is not a new concept in Monster Hunter series, but the term was first used in Monster Hunter World. Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures confirmed production on the fifth Scream film has officially wrapped after three months. The announcement was made through a message by Scream creator Kevin Williamson in which he shared new behind-the-scenes photos and revealed the next installment will share the name of the first entry in the franchise. Production on the fifth film, officially titled Scream, began in Wilmington, North Carolina in September 2020 with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett at the helm....
