The following contains spoilers for Resident Alien. SYFY’s Resident Alien is at its best not when it’s showing us how different Harry, an alien living in disguise on Earth, is from the humans around him but how much he—perhaps despite himself—actually has in common with them. Like many of the residents of Patience, Harry is just another being trying to belong. And over the course of the series, we’ve him explore many aspects of himself as he slowly makes sense of the oddities of human behavior and emotion, from love and affection to anger and fear....

The original Resident Evil 2 is notable for its “Zapping” system, wherein the game effectively had four different campaigns, two for each character, that could impact one another. For example, players could go through Leon Scenario A or Leon Scenario B, and player actions in those campaigns would impact Claire’s playthrough and vice versa. Anyone hoping to see the Zapping system return for the Resident Evil 2 remake will be disappointed, but the game will still have separate campaigns for Leon and Claire....

Fans of Apex Legends are no stranger to the frustrations that can mount when facing an enemy squad that’s rolling with a Caustic. The legend comes with one of the game’s most devastating ultimate abilities. Caustic’s Nox Gas Grenade can be dropped or tossed accurately at range. Upon detonation, players in the wide area-of-effect start taking damage, finding both their vision and mobility impaired. In the matches’ last seconds, with the game’s ring closing in, enemy teams often have to choose between taking damage in the wall or facing Caustic’s gas....

Game producer Yoshiki Okamoto, a man with 38 years of industry experience, recently answered several interesting questions about the original Street Fighter II. Perhaps most interesting of all was the revelation that at one point, Zangief was the strongest character in the game. This should come as a surprise to players familiar with the original game in the series. It is true that Zangief requires immense knowledge of player match ups and tons of practice to execute his wide array of throws, but even then, the character has often been considered a specialist option....

As the freshman effort from Turtle Rock Studios, Evolve represents a huge risk, and as a 4v1 asymmetrical co-op game, Evolve carries the hope of a blossoming genre on its back. It’s something new and different, and therefore is going to be a tougher sell to gamers. Thankfully, Turtle Rock’s experience on the Left 4 Dead series has given them a fundamental understanding of how class-based co-op can work. Granted, they’ve taken those ideas a step further in Evolve, but there’s still a general sense of familiarity to the game....

The hunt might be going handheld once more, as there are rumors that a Monster Hunter game is currently in development that will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. The Monster Hunter franchise became huge in Japan, thanks to the local co-op experience provided by the PSP entries in the series. The franchise moved to the Nintendo 3DS, which added online multiplayer capabilities, helping the Monster Hunter franchise find a foothold in the west....

A massive new Call of Duty 2020 leak has appeared online, potentially revealing a slew of new details about the game. While fans should take this information with a grain of salt, if it’s true, then the upcoming game will address a number of complaints that fans have about 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This information comes from YouTuber XclusiveAce in a since-removed video, citing an unnamed source who apparently showed him Call of Duty 2020 gameplay....

Despite taking a lengthy leave of absence years prior to its release, Crash Bandicoot came back with a bang when Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy launched on consoles in mid-2017. Not only was the remake a giant success with fans who had been clamoring to see the beloved PlayStation mascot return to screens, but the series’ return also drew a lot of success commercially, with the remake topping the charts upon release....

Saints Row developer Volition is announcing Agents of Mayhem, a single player open world shooter where players can choose from a variety of characters. Volition, past developers of FreeSpace, Summoner, and Red Faction, and more recently known as those crazy folks behind the Saints Row franchise, have something new to share. The studio is hard at work on its next game – a single-player shooter by the name of Agents of Mayhem....

Ever since the game was shockingly announced at E3 2015, fans have been waiting to see something substantial on Shenmue 3. Developer Ys Net has been mostly secretive since the game’s announcement, skipping major events like E3 2017. Luckily for fans, Ys Net and publisher Deep Silver have finally released a new teaser trailer to coincide with gamescom 2017, though some are concerned with how it looks. The first teaser trailer for Shenmue 3 is taken from an in-development build of the game, and it shows off various locations and characters set to an orchestral score....

Outside of a limited run series, TV shows generally operate with the intention of coming back the next television season. However, the decision as to whether or not they’ll actually return is not left up to the the showrunners. If the network executives decide the show is not worth the company’s money for any number of reasons the show gets cancelled, and when that happens the fans who were watching can feel pretty hurt about it....

Silent Hill 2 remains an undisputed classic and stands as one of the horror genre’s crown jewels in terms of atmosphere, narrative, and old-fashioned tank control gameplay. And yet, while Silent Hill 2 has held up with regards to these attributes, one of the game’s most defining elements has aged terribly, and that would be one of gaming’s most recognizable villains: Pyramid Head. Video game speedrunning has grown alongside the gaming industry becoming more mainstream. Venues like Twitch make it easy to share world record attempts, while events like Games Done Quick have expanded to take place multiple times a year so players can show their skills to earn money for charities, with this January’s Awesome Games Done Quick raising over $3 million. For Finish Line Games’ Lead Designer Jason Canam, any player dedicating the time to tear a game apart is “one of the biggest honors,” and something he is excited to hopefully see following the August release of the physics-based puzzle platformer Skully....

One of the most underrated open-world action games from the last generation is Square-Enix and United Fronts Games’ Sleeping Dogs. The game was set in a realistic contemporary Hong Kong and focused on Wei Shen, an undercover Chinese-American cop attempting to take down the Sun On Yee Triad. While the game launched in 2012 to critical acclaim and sold impressively for a new franchise, it failed to meet the publisher’s sales expectation and, tragically, its developer United Front Games shut down for good in late 2016 after canceling both a sequel to Sleeping Dogs and an online spin-off titled Triad Wars....

It’s official, SOCOM and MAG developer Zipper Interactive has been closed by Sony. While rumors circulated late last week suggesting this to be the case, hopeful fans of the developer who most recently launched Unit 13 for the Vita (read our review here) were wishing it wasn’t true. Alas, Sony has indeed closed down the developer, but explains it was a natural part of the development cycle. Zipper had delivered on all of their promised projects, from SOCOM 4 to Unit 13, and it was time for both to move on....
