Every pirate game worth its salt is always eager to include allusions or cameos from famous, real-world pirates, and it looks like Skull and Bones will likely be following suit. However, with the way that developer Ubisoft has worked with historical figures in Assassin’s Creed before, there’s a chance that some lesser known pirates might get some much deserved screen time. While Skull and Bones isn’t explicitly confirmed to be within the Assassin’s Creed universe, players can still expect the development philosophies of Ubisoft to continue into the spin-off title....

Mehrunes Dagon, the Daedric Prince of Destruction, is a blight upon the continent of Tamriel. Unlike many of his peers, Dagon has on several occasions tried to conquer the mortal plane. His most recent and ambitious attempt is depicted in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Dagon’s personal artifact, the aptly named Mehrunes’ Razor, is a worthy reflection of its brutal master. Its deadliness is known throughout the world and there has never been a shortage of foolhardy adventurers who have sought to retrieve it....

With the first expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim releasing this week as Dawnguard became available on Xbox Live (timed 3o-day Microsoft exclusive), there are quite a few details to examine. Outside of the obvious inclusion of new quest content and the ability to become a vampire lord with a new skill tree, there are a lot of little cool additions that haven’t received as much attention. Yes, Dawnguard finally brings Crossbows back to The Elder Scrolls franchise, and it adds a few cool new Dragon Shouts, but it also lets players craft mighty Dragonbone weapons....

In the province of Skyrim, if the player helps a number of people within a specific hold, the Jarl bestows them with the title of Thane. Though it’s mostly honorary, but there are several perks included with this status, including the appointment of a housecarl. Guardians of their employer’s safety and property, housecarls fight alongside the player and will protect their homestead from threats. For the most part, all housecarls have the same skills and similar dialogue....

Fallout 76 lets you do a lot of things, but running your own vault is not one of them. At least it wasn’t until just this weekend. Bethesda is testing a new mechanic called Shelters that will eventually let all players build instanced underground spaces. For now, however, Shelters are being limited to the Public Test Server. And after that… microtransactions will be in the mix. Bethesda posted on its blog that Shelters are now available in the PTS, and that it wants players to mess around with them as much as possible from October 1-4....

Sony is launching the PS5 this November with some of the most anticipated triple A exclusives on the next generation of consoles. However, the gaming giant has also announced that some PS5 exclusives will be a little more expensive than some fans might have hoped. Bluepoint’s Demon’s Souls remake will cost $69.99, and while Spider-Man: Miles Morales will cost $49.99 independently, the game will have an Ultimate Edition version that fans will need to get for $69....

Sony releases its financial forecast for the 2016 fiscal year, predicting that 20 million more PlayStation 4 consoles will be sold by April 1st, 2017. This past fiscal year has been impressive for Sony, with the PlayStation 4 beating its annual sales forecast, and earning the title of best-selling console for nearly every month. For the next fiscal year (April 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2017) Sony expects that success to continue, with PS4 hardware and software sales predicted to increase by 8....

Sony has filed plenty of patents in the past, some of which wind up being put to use while others are shelved. And just today, the company has filed for yet another one that will allow you to leave in-game notes, audio, and photos for your fellow gamers. Prior to filing this patent, Sony has filed several other patents that will change the way that you play games. One of those patents suggested that the PS5 will be able to emulate old games via the cloud....

While sources had led us to believe Sony was gearing up to unveil a new PS3 model at Gamescom next month, new rumors are circulating that suggest that isn’t going to happen. The new model in question, the PS3-4000, was rumored to be not just a cheaper version of the current model but a completely redesigned “super slim” model that supports a smaller 16 GB Flash-based hard drive. That PS3-4000 model is still believed to be in production, but apparently the costs of manufacturing said SKU is too high for Sony to move forward with the product just yet....

No sooner do we hear that Discord said “no” to Microsoft’s kind offer of $10 billion for its platform do we find out that Discord was playing the field with Sony the whole time. Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan just announced on the company blog that Discord will be integrated into the PlayStation Network. “At PlayStation, we’re constantly looking for new ways to enable players around the world to connect with one another, form new friendships and communities, and share fun experiences and lasting memories,” Ryan said in a statement....

For the past couple of months, Sony and PlayStation have built some serious momentum when it comes to announcing new special edition console bundles and accessories. At San Diego Comic-Con in July, the Spider-Man Special Edition PS4 Pro Bundle was revealed ahead of the game’s launch this September, while the Translucent Limited Edition PS4 Pro to celebrate the company’s 500 million systems sold milestone will release in the next couple of days....

Compounding the Hot Toys figure’s coolness, the even-pricier deluxe version will include a diorama display stand that perfectly captures the chaos teased in the trailers, showcasing building debris broken by the signature tentacles of Doctor Octopus, as played by Alfred Molina in a highly-anticipated reprisal of his Spider-Man 2 role, and some smoke-seeping, imminently-exploding pumpkin bombs courtesy of the Green Goblin from the Sam Raimi films—in this case the very first one—played once again after nearly 20 years by Willem Dafoe....

However, that changed with the Into the Spider-Verse film, and Miles Morales saw a surge in popularity. Now that Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been confirmed to be a launch title for the PlayStation 5, and players are getting even more amped up....

Marvel and Square Enix teamed up for the release of Marvel’s Avengers, but it seems like the game was only one aspect of their partnership. The two companies have come together once again, as a new set of Marvel figures is being released by Square Enix. While Tetsuya Nomura is best known for his work on Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, the legendary developer has also put his spin on several other aspects of pop culture....

As one would expect of a Resident Evil game, the Lockpick item is back in the RE3 remake and provides access to a wealth of resources that can make getting through a city with a zombie problem far easier. Unlike some other games in the series, players will first notice an abundance of yellow locks that cannot be opened at the start of the game and will only be accessible once they have acquired the Lockpick....

The Resident Evil 3 remake has generally been received as a success, providing a new coat of polish to the story of Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveria fighting to escape zombie-infested Raccoon City. Fans were quick to take notice that Resident Evil 3’s remake is considerably shorter than RE 2’s, which has led some to wonder if DLC might be in the pipeline for the survival horror title. According to a well-known leaker, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case....

Constantin Film announced it is in pre-production on a reboot of the Resident Evil film franchise that will serve as an origin story. Maze Runner star Kaya Scodelario has already joined the cast alongside Ant-Man and the Wasp star Hannah John-Kamen and Robbie Amell of Arrow fame. Based on the classic survival horror video games by Capcom, the Resident Evil reboot will be set in 1998 on a fateful night in Raccoon City, where the deadly T-virus developed by the Umbrella Corporation begins to spread and transforms victims into zombies....

Returnal, from developer Housemarque, is the intriguing, upcoming title for PS5 which emits Dead Space and Alien: Isolation vibes. The space shooter certainly has its horror elements and it has also been revealed that the title has a compelling asynchronous online mechanic. Revealed during Returnal’s new story trailer, the online feature - along with other aspects of the trailer - was dissected by narrative director Greg Louden within a PlayStation blog post....
