Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales walks a thin line between an expansion of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, and a standalone title in its own right. The game is focused around Miles Morales, one of the many characters who have taken on the mantle of Spider-Man in Marvel’s Comics. Miles first appears in Marvel’s Spider-Man as an ally and protegee of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, who befriends the 17-year-old after his father’s death. Although he is playable in some sections of the original title, Miles comes into his own in the sequel, having received similar powers to Spider-Man....

This past week, Insomniac Games revealed a variety of new information about both Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the remaster of the original Marvel’s Spider-Man. As part of those announcements, Insomniac confirmed that it had changed Peter Parker’s face. Visual improvements for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5 were cited as the main reason for the change, but regardless of the explanation, many fans reacted negatively. And now, according to Insomniac creative director Bryan Intihar, that negativity has escalated to outright threats....

Older games are still very much loved by large portions of the gaming community, so when two iconic gaming franchises got their own trilogy remasters, the gaming world was buzzing with excitement. Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy was released in 2017. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer takes to Twitter to reveal that the upcoming Resident Evil 7 will be a part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program on PC and Xbox One. Since its reveal at Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 seems to have favored the PlayStation 4 over PC and Xbox One. Not only will Resident Evil 7’s virtual reality experience be exclusive to PlayStation VR for the game’s first year on the shelves, but it will also have better graphics on PS4 Pro, and its demos were available to PlayStation owners months before Xbox or PC players had access to them....

For a survival horror game, Resident Evil Village really isn’t that scary. It’s unsettling, with select sections proving to be absolutely terrifying despite their brevity, but when you break things down, this is a first-person shooter with horror elements. Perhaps I’m a brave big girl gamer, but a specific moment that my fellow journalists are hyping up as the scariest moment in series’ history really isn’t that bad. It’s a chase sequence in the dark that is too campy to take seriously, and is over far too quickly to have a lasting impact....

Pet Project Games revealed its debut project, a co-op first-person shooter Ripout, full of derelict spaceships and alien mutants. Ripout developers rely on procedural generation not only for in-game levels but for reconfigurable monsters as well, so the players will never know what to expect from their enemies. The studio presented a first gameplay trailer for Ripout, offering a glimpse of its key features. Set in the dark future, the game will take the players deep into outer space, where abandoned ships are waiting to be explored for any survivors....

In conjunction with Super Bowl 55, Rocket League has been running a new American football-themed game mode called Gridiron. It’s much different than the standard high-octane “soccar” that fans of the game are used to, with new mechanics and an entirely different ruleset. One of Cartoon Network’s most beloved shows is finally returning to video games soon with Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, and publisher Adult Swim Games has shared some of the moves and techniques players can expect from the upcoming brawler. Progression through the game is driven by a set of three RPG-style skill trees that allow players to improve Jack’s combat prowess, physical abilities and spiritual strength. While the setup should be familiar to modern action game fans, the focus on giving players agency to customize their experience bodes well for Battle Through Time’s chances at breaking the curse of bad licensed games....

In a new interview, the head of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, reveals that Rare’s pirate adventure game Sea of Thieves has been delayed to 2017. One of the games PC and Xbox One players were most excited to see at E3 2016 was Rare’s upcoming pirate adventure Sea of Thieves. Thankfully, Rare did not disappoint as during the Microsoft press conference, the developer presented some brand new Sea of Thieves gameplay footage which highlighted the game’s multiplayer....
