The upcoming Sega Genesis Mini, known to be launching with 40 games, is now a few months away from release. Previously, only half the games included on the Sega Genesis Mini had been revealed, but Sega confirmed the identities of 10 more games today. For the most part, these titles are more obscure, but they nonetheless help represent the catalog of the Sega Genesis. Over a year ago, while the NES Classic and SNES Classic were seeing major success in the video game market, and before the mixed release of the PlayStation Classic, Sega announced a first-party retro console in the style of the aforementioned Classic consoles with the Sega Genesis Mini....

Those hoping to get a glimpse at Shenmue 3 at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo will be disappointed to hear the game will not be making an appearance. The announcement came through this month’s progress report, which is posted on the game’s Kickstarter. In the report, developer Ys Net confirmed it will instead be using that time to work on the game. However, as consolation of sorts, the company also used the report to unveil a brand-new character for Shenmue 3....

Recently, the official Sonic the Hedgehog account announced that Sonic Mania Plus, the physical edition of Sonic Mania, would be coming out on July 17. Alongside the official trailer, it was also said that players whom already bought the original game would be able to get the features of Plus via DLC. Sony has explained the reasoning behind its decision not to debut the heavily rumored PlayStation Neo console at E3, despite Microsoft unveiling new hardware. Reports have surfaced that indicate that Sony is paying its employees a record-breaking bonus. The bonus, which was reported on by NHK, equates to seven months of paid salary, despite the union demanding 6.9 months worth during Spring negotiations. It’s seemingly unusual for a company to offer higher than what is negotiated, and this is apparently the first time in two decades that Sony has gone this high. It should come as little surprise to anyone that Sony chose this year to give out the record-breaking bonus....

There has been a string of disappointing news regarding the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales since the bundle was announced to include a remastered PlayStation 5 version of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. Today, Sony confirmed more bad news as fans who already own Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 will not be able to upgrade to the remastered version without buying it again. In a statement to Kotaku, Sony confirmed that fans who own Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 have no way of upgrading to the remastered version on the PlayStation 5....

It’s been fascinating to watch the survival horror genre explode over the past decade. Several days ago, Electronic Arts made a massive $400 million+ acquisition of Respawn Entertainment, the developers of the Titanfall series. While the news should have been positive, the recent closure of Visceral Games had many Titanfall fans concerned that Electronic Arts would eventually do the same to Respawn. But Respawn Entertianment CEO Vince Zampella wants to assure fans this is not a similar situation. Speaking to Venture Beat alongside his new EA Boss Patrick Soderlund, Zampella stated that he wasn’t concerned about Respawn Entertainment being shut down by Electronic Arts at all, and reiterated the benefits of joining the EA family of studios....

Retro Machina is an isometric puzzle-platformer where you guide an adorable little robot - who’s a dead ringer for Clank from Ratchet & Clank - across the ruins of futuristic sci-fi cities to find something that can repair its haywire mechanical brain. That premise may not sound very original, and to be honest, there’s not a lot that is original about this title. It’s competently made, but it all feels inessential because there’s nothing here that hasn’t been done before by better and more intriguing indie games....
