When Robert Rodriguez comes by our studio during SXSW, he’s maybe a little nostalgic. Whereas most other filmmakers descend onto Austin in early March for a whirlwind of press and festivities, Rodriguez lives here and will remain long after the banners come down. Thus his trip was one practically across the street when he begins to reflect on the making Red 11, a new thriller intrinsically linked to his first film El Mariachi, plus those early days that’ve become something akin to filmmaking legend....

Last month, Psyonix’ vehicular arena soccer video game, Rocket League, was bought by Epic Games, a move which many players questioned, especially in regards to the game’s competitive ambitions. At this past weekend’s RLCS Season 7 World Championship finals, one group of displeased Rocket League fans made it known to a national audience just how unhappy they were with the move. A group of fans wearing sailor outfits had been vying for some camera time throughout the broadcast by posing and playing with their mustaches in the same manner as the villainous Hanna-Barbera character, Dick Dastardly....

Rocket League Season 3 is now live across all platforms. The new season comes with a new Rocket Pass, which includes the Tyranno vehicle and more than 70 Tiers of unlockable content. The official patch notes mention a bunch of other updates, such as the start of Season 3 Tournaments and the arrival of Stage 1 Challenges. Like all the other seasons before it, Season 3 is bringing a wealth of new content to Rocket League....

The popular YouTube series RollPlay, best known for creating tabletop RPG let’s play series, has just indefinitely cancelled its second season following a rather disturbing incident. The 18th episode of the series Far Verona featured a disturbing scene of sexual assault involving one player’s character which was broadcast to a live audience. The scene in question can still be found on YouTube, and the video has been voluntarily demonetized to prevent profiting from the incident....

With Modern Warfare 2’s campaign returning to consoles recently through a brand new remaster, it seems players are more eager than ever to revisit its iconic sequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Dropping back in 2011, the game acted as the finale to the original Modern Warfare trilogy, seeing the storyline weaved through each game come to a close and welcoming a long hiatus that was finally lifted last year when the series returned in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare....

There’s no doubt that The Witcher franchise has firmly cemented itself into the collective consciousness of gamers around the globe, especially now that a Netflix series is on the way following CD Projekt Red’s release of the franchise’s third entry, Wild Hunt, back in 2015. Now, it looks as if the action-RPG property’s protagonist Geralt of Rivia could be stepping out of The Witcher world in a different way and walking into the realm of Bandai Namco’s fighting game SoulCalibur 6 as a guest character later this year....

The next iteration in the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare 3, is still three months out from hitting retail shelves - but that hasn’t prevented eager first person shooter fans from wondering what’s next for the series. While the biennial turn-around for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare installments seems like a sure-bet these days, Treyarch’s period-piece Call of Duty games, such as last year’s Black Ops, tend to be shrouded in a bit more mystery - considering they’re not locked into one time period (and subsequently have more room to explore various war scenarios)....

Gold farmers, you just got served. World of Warcraft not only generated a turtle boat load of revenue for Blizzard but it also gave rise to countless gold farmers around the world who trade in-game currency for real life cash. But really, why trade in-game digital fiction for cash when you can just sell your children. Literally. You’re no doubt confused and wondering what it is I’m speaking of so there’s no other way to say it than to just lay it out: People are now selling children to play video games....

This entire farewell season of Shameless has functioned as an examination of change from many different angles, but the characters have reached a point where they have to stop running and confront these developments now that there are only three episodes left in the series....

One of the most unique aspects of Skyrim’s gameplay is its Dragon Shouts. As a Dragonborn, the protagonist can channel their power to shout in the dragon language, causing effects that range from a forceful push to a sudden thunderstorm. Within the game’s lore, this power is known as the Voice, or Thu’um. A few in-game characters touch on the Thu’um’s history, but it remains somewhat mysterious. This eons-old tool of battle and worship is central to Skyrim’s main questline, but many players go through the game without learning its lore....

Although a rogue may prefer to stay hidden and kill their enemies while shrouded in darkness, they won’t always be able to accomplish this, particularly when it comes to fighting dragons in Skyrim. With stealth out of the question, a rogue build will have to use their wits and various other skills in order to slay one of the most powerful creatures in Skyrim, the Legendary Dragon. Armed with the Fire Breath, Frost Breath, and Drain Vitality shouts, Legendary Dragons are no joke and can easily tear through unprepared players....

Ever since Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim released back in 2011, the game has continued to have fans who have played hours upon hours into the world. Throughout their journey, their Dragonborn has fought against all kinds of threats. From bandits to living-breathing dragons. Not only that, but there have been plenty of weapons and armor that they have worn to become more powerful. One of the best weapons being the DLC weapon of Miraak’s sword....

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is filled to the brim with many different types of weapons that you can wield during your adventure across the open-world video game tundra. There are both one-handed and two-handed types of melee weapons, and inside of these weapon types, there are unique weapons that you can only acquire once. Maces are a type of one-handed weapon that is common throughout Tamriel, and they have many different variants that you can obtain through crafting, purchasing from a merchant, and adventuring inside of the dungeons in Skyrim....

Markarth isn’t generally the Skyrim city that most players start off in, but thanks to its rewarding quests, it should be. Markarth can get new players a wealth of supplies, money, and daedric weapons with it’s low leveled quests that most players will be able to finish right away. The quests in Markarth are also pretty interesting, and if you need some help fighting at level one, then you can recruit Vorstag to help you by visiting the Silver Blood Inn and paying him 500 gold....

In a somewhat surprising move, Sony has revealed that previously suspected next-gen exclusives Horizon Forbidden West, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales will also be released on the PlayStation 4. “We’re also excited today to reveal that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be arriving on both PS5 and PS4,” says James Stevenson, community director of Insomniac games, via a PlayStation blog post. “Yes, that’s right, we know that some of you may transition to PS5 at different times, which is was why it was important to us to release the latest title in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe on both consoles....

The latest update to Spider-Man: Miles Morales quietly introduced a new photo frame specifically designed for fans of The Prowler. The Prowler, Miles’ uncle Aaron Davis, plays a significant role in the 2020 PlayStation title and ultimately helps his nephew save Harlem. The new update, 1.08, dropped this week with generic “fixes and polishes” patch notes. However, Reddit user SymbioteSoda has since pointed to the addition of a new photo mode showing some love to the prowler....

For a specific section of older millennials, our first swing with your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was Spider-Man: The Animated Series, which to this day might still have the best vocal performance of Peter Parker in a cartoon or otherwise (courtesy of Christopher Daniel Barnes). This writer can even remember running home from school at the age of seven to see just what happens when Peter Parker tangles with the Insidious Six (the word “sinister” was apparently too, uh, sinister for ‘90s censors at Fox Kids)....

Insomniac’s Spider-Man game looked fantastic in its E3 2017 gameplay trailer, with Spidey beating up bad guys and saving New York City from total destruction in the process. But Insomniac Games now promises that the game will somehow improve its graphics when it launches as a PS4 exclusive next year. Speaking during the PlayStation Live stream, Spider-Man’s creative director Brian Intihar revealed that the game is going to “look even better” at launch....
