Thanks to retailers bungling the PS5 pre-order date, many fans who want one of the consoles on day one will be missing out, but perhaps planned on camping outside one of their local stores to try to get their hands on the console. A new online and mobile version of the PlayStation Store is on the way, and it won’t feature support for PS3, PSP, or PS Vita games. The PS5 is due to be released next month, and Sony appears to be using this opportunity to rework some of its existing services. The fact that Sony is releasing a digital-only model of the PS5 means that the PlayStation Store needs to be as accessible as possible for users, as it’s the only way customers can purchase games for the system....
On July 10 and July 17 respectively, Square Enix published surveys all about player choices and combat preferences in Final Fantasy VII Remake for fans to participate in. The surveys can be viewed on the Final Fantasy portal website, but can only be participated in through the FF portal app. No official word was given as to why these surveys were published, but Square Enix promised to share the results on the Final Fantasy portal website at a later date....

According to information shared on PlayStation Game Size’s Twitter account, Resident Evil Village will be smaller on PlayStation 5 than Xbox. The PlayStation version appears to be just over half the Xbox version’s size, which is a huge difference in size not often seen between similar versions of a game. After Resident Evil Village’s download size was revealed on the Microsoft Store to be 50.02 GB, many assumed that it would be a similar size on PlayStation....

Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures will relaunch the Scream franchise with a fifth film in the series. Now, Neve Campbell has officially signed on to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in the relaunch. Campbell made her first appearance as Sidney Prescott in the original Scream film back in 1996 and reprised the role for the three sequels that followed. The fifth Scream film will reunite Campbell with co-stars David Arquette and Courteney Cox, who reprise their respective roles as Sheriff Dwight “Dewey” Riley and writer/journalist Gale Weathers-Riley from the previous four films in the franchise....

This past week, both Netflix and YouTube lowered the default quality of their videos in order to help guarantee support for the increased number of connections online from those stuck at home with little to do beyond online entertainment. Sony too announced lower download speeds for Europe and North America to serve the same purpose. Insomniac Games has seen much success with its release of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Despite being a console exclusive, this hasn’t caused sales for the PS4 title to be hampered, with the new game becoming the fastest-selling Marvel video game ever shortly after it launched back in September. To expand on the story, Insomniac is planning to roll out three DLC expansions throughout the end of 2018, and the second chapter for The City That Never Sleeps storyline will be releasing in a couple of weeks....
